Ron,
On your Euro I assume you have the hydraulic versions?

If so it may just need a recharge, pipes replaced or new actuator either end - each side is seperate so one working side the other not is common.

The switchover to electric was in 89-90 I think - much later than 83 anyway

There are write-ups in the archives about recharging with silicone liquid of some kind - do a search.

I used a place called Douglas Valley Auto Breakers in the UK, they were pretty good - they specialize in only high end cars. You have to go to Europe because the parts aren't sourced here (not DOT Legal when sold). You have to email them with your needs - I ended up calling to confirm and have them check they were electric versions - I'm sure they can locate you hydaulic parts also.

Service was good and shipping costs OK but the ~$2 to the pound is painful!

If you needed electric versions be warned there are very few out there.

Ron,
So you have a system already in? OR you just want to do one side - not sure what you mean...?

If you plan to do this you probably have to have H4's or at least H4 rear frames - H5's simply aren't designed to hinge the way they need to - maybe they could be modified... you'd at least need to take out the big spring.

let me know if I can help - Sounds like Bill has some unused motors - though I may have given him new plans for them....

Alan,

I'm a bit confused on how you did this?

Did your shark originally have the adjusters are or your putting them in after the fact?

I want to do this to my shark, what are the best URL to search for parts?
Do I just need the lines that go up to the headlights? I have the **** but haven't looked under it to see what is/isn't there yet.

Tom,
Its mostly detailed above.

I started out with no adjusters at all. Just found the connector/wiring under the handbrake cover and turns out it only goes to the central electric panel.

So:
I needed 2 x electric adjuster motors - these go under the lights in the pods - US cars have just a dummy non-movable part here, I needed the potentiometer and **** to go in the handbrake cover and the wiring between the central electric & the headlight pods. I also needed to install H4 headlights so the adjusters would work correctly.

It turned out to be a painfull installation, the wiring is challenging, mounting the HL motors is time consuming & awkward, making the connectors you need is not very easy and I had the added challenge (now solved) of ID'ing the plug connection on the motors. Final wiring is still to be done...

Initially just finding the parts was hard - took me 6 months of looking. There was one pair on ebay (that I missed!) during that whole time. I'd suggest UK , German or Scandinavian parts yards. Possible to buy parts new from Euro dealers but very very expensive.

So it is possible to do this - even from scratch in an older car but its far from easy.

What you have is probably the hydraulic system - check under the handbrake cover to see if you have wires or plastic tubes...?

Alan,
I'm taking it you are selling your factory H-5's? A rock took out my glass on the pass side. I'm not sure if I could just replace the glass or do I have to change the whole unit? Either way I need one side. Thanks for your help.

Ron

Ahhh!... I see! different question entirely - I was confused there...

They are already on Ebay as a pair - some bids already so can't split now.

It may still be the cheapest way to get one since new H5's are $285 - $315 each - then you can sell
the other one back on ebay... depends how high they go... (High I hope!)

Alan,
I still can't find them on ebay. Can you post a link or the auction #?

Man searching on this is a near black hole on the net so far. I see the qwest is for information is the hardest factor.

The stuff I need is probably standard in UK and stuff but there aren't no 'Add to cart' places I can find to get what I need. Can't one of the big three start getting this stuff for us to buy?

How do the people in the europe fix their sharks headlight adjuster of this when it breaks? Where do you buy your s***?

The best resource on the net for this information are the rennlist 928 archives. Somebody prove me wrong.

I guess I'll have to ask Prophet Yaweh to sum parts for me down off the Euro UFO parts bin.

Tom,
Yes finding the parts is actually harder than the install - not that that is easy...
