Another problem could be the coolent type in the system. Reputable shops must place stickers on the system if they do not use Freon. It could be some other stuff is in the system. AC shops have equipement that can identify what is in the system. I'd recommend going to an AC specialist for the fix.

Mike, are you still getting warm air after replacing the valve?
Bill, I forgot to mention that I still have hot air coming from the vents after replacing the heater valve. I have about 9 (inches of mercury?) at the valve when a/c controller is on and I can see that the valve is not closing all the way. I checked the vacuum hoses under the middle console and only the yellow line is holding pressure. Can you give me the veridict? I can have the freon topped but I am afraid it will not help. Thank you.....

Hands down.... I'd go to Big Dave at San Carlos Radiator. Try to meet up with him when he has a little time to talk with you, typically just after 5pm. If the problem lies with the refrigeration system itself he's your man. No affiliation, just a satisfied customer recommending someone who I think is as honest and competent as you're gong to find.

Mike, if this is the expansion valve, then probably any shop can do the job. It could be a problem with the vacuum manifold or the doors. I did not like the way your climate control sliders felt, but we did not have time to go further.
We should take a look at the vacuum manifold, door operation and control unit. Most shops would not have a clue. Big Dave is a bit too far to go.
It appeared to me that your charge is OK, the compressor is compressing and the heater control valve is OK. The other three items I mention above are the next candidates unless someone has some better ideas.

Look up under the driver side parcel tray, driver footwell area, just inboard of the steering column, for the mixing valve. Make sure the little mechanical arm changes postion when you move the temp slider full to the right...then to the left. These rarely fail, so i doubt thats a problem.
All the other idea are good ones. I didnt see if you have rear air or not but If the rear is cold Id lean towards a bad expansion valve.

I agree with Bill... get the 928-specific stuff sorted out first. I replaced my own expansion valve, compressor & lines then took it to SC Rad. to get it charged and leak-checked. Having someone else sort out the varios controls on the shark is going to be big $$$ so you might as well dig in.
