What's considered a Refurbished MAF??
New parts, new settings, what exactly is performed when rebuilding a MAF? Any reason why we can't do it ourselves?

Hi
Check out my website - under MAF FAQs. The wire erodes, this causes the problems. I replace the wire. Then the MAF is calibrated to btter than 0.5% accuracy at airflows from idle to WOT on a dedicated test rig. .....

Anwyay, as to not hijack the thread..details in another post soon.
My MAF voltage on my Logworks was "zero". The car still ran and like John describes at his website it will run in "limp" home mode....during which the AFR will be VERY rich and you wont get above appx2000-2200 rpm. This RPM range in 4th gear will get you going at a resonable street speed...ie Limp Home. When coming to a stop i found you may have to pop the car in nuetral to keep it running.
Got me home fine though.
Below is what the burn off looks like when logged at shutdown.(orange line)
Yup, right at 4 $econds

I thought the hot wire was Titanium....This 'Burn Off' is why MANY are against using the K&N air filter, as the oil on the filter can coat the wire causing it to burn up during the 'Burn off'. You can buy about 15-20 OEM air filters for the cost of a new MAF!

Hi Darien
I bought a new MAF sensor on ebay for the price of a rebuild 325USD and no core charge required. There are some BMW which use the same MAF.
