Default 89 octane in S4

Well I installed an Australian coding plug on my sons S4 and it runs fine on regular unleaded plus it has that other desired side effect.

Isn't that called reverse engineering or was that regressive engineering?

I've run 89 in the past w/o any problem. Not anymore, though.

Worn plugs (w i d e plug gap) and blackened cap and rotor contact points
makes my engine much less peppy.
Wonder where one would get some recycled Bosch ignition parts.
Hmmmmm.

Ernest (NYC)
Time to sell my used cap and rotors on ebay. :-)

Does this mean that the knock sensors and Hall probe are still hooked up?

Has anyone made a plug with a switch, so you can have it both ways?

Or do you need to disconnect the battery, to reset the brain?

Very sneaky....I like it....now you just need Rich to make you a "conservative" chipset...kinda like a permanent valet mode or something!

He is having fun. Most of his time spent on it so far is with the stereo. This week he added a port for his I pod.

You did a good thing. I was talking with some local friends and we decided that you know, even with a 4 cyl, the 928 would still have been an excellent student's car. Better watch the stereo stuff, it can get spendy.
