Default Seat replacements

I'm looking to replace the seats in my 81 and have been dismayed by the dollars gotten and the lack of available 928 seats. Must be the old Econ 101 supply vs demand issue. Are other Porsche seats a drop in or easily adapted to our cars? I'm not that concerned about originality in fact I think some of the other seats w/o the lower seats "pillows" hold up better over time. Anyone using 911, 944 or other Porsche seats?

I have 993 seats in my cab. they dropped right in. Also, I put GT seats in my '82 last week with no problem. I think that any later 911, 924, 944, 993, 928 seats wil fit. Don't know about boxter or 996.

I have adapted 996 seats to fit 928's but 996 seats are not cheap either.

Where do you live?

I'll GIVE you a pair of early 928 seats if you'd like them. They're "cork" and i was going to restore them or make office chairs out of them. They are restorable. Now there just in the way and taking up space.
