Hey Ron -

If you want to find a way to come through Provo during your trip back East, I'll let you drive mine and you can compare.

I appreciate the offer. If I can fine enough time to come north I'll take you up on the offer. I planned a full day in Utah on the southern route you suggested, so I may catch you on the way back through.

Alrighty then. Definitely do the southern route - it's not to be missed.

Ron,
If you wish, if you're coming out I-70 through Columbus, if you'll give me an approximate date, I'll alert my alignment tech you are coming, and you can stop here for your alignment. That Sear's is literally less than two miles off of I-70, on the east side of Columbus.

And yes, the southern part of Utah is not to be missed. Especially, road-wise, I-15, from St.George to Lost Wages...... Even better at about 3 in the morning!

Anthony
It is surely the case that alighment can make a big difference. On the other hand of all the 928 owners I have ever known the one who complaned the most about wander lived in New Jersey. So, another theory is that there may be an interaction between the New Jersey roads, the 928, and the properties of the tire. I think the person who mentioned this previously to me said the New Jersey roads were really rutted somehow. It may be that your present tires are interacting with the ruts.
Personally, when I have felt like my 928 is not staying pointed where I want it to go, I have climbed underneath to throw just a little more tow-in into the picture. Seemed to help.

Brett:

I would be most grateful for anyone who can transform this hog into a Porsche, and I will pass through Columbus directly after the US Grand Prix on the way to Harrisburg and the Parade. And lunch is on me. Let me know how I can contact you and maybe we can get together. I plan to leave Indianapolis on the 20th of June.

So much input to respond to it all. But so far thanks to all. I appreciate the clarification on the bushings vs shock issue. It didn't make sense to me that the shocks on the 928 should be the cause or be different than the rest. I also agree that the roads in NJ suck big time. Driving the car yesterday showed it to track fine on the fresh paved roads with minimal tire noise and 0 tramline issues. However, some sections were so badly worn and rutted that i was fighting the car to go straight and changing lanes was a battle. (scarry to say the least) The tires are definitely old, hard and worn. Like I said driving the turbo on these same roads I don't even notice they are worn so it must be the car.

I will talk to the tech on Monday. I am seriously thinking of doing the Bilsteins as i like them on the turbo and the front feels a bit floaty for sport shocks and the rear a bit bouncy. I think I should change out the shocks first then drive the car for a while before having the alignment done. I was thinking of staying with the Michelin Pilots although the Pirelli Rosso's don't seem to bad for a considerable $ savings. They work great on the CT.

Thanks for all the input. I will let you know what happens in the next couple of weeks.

Ron, I am curious to know how it works out for you.

Goodyear F1s are also excellent tires. Of course I have 16 in rims, but the ride is very supple, even on NY secondarys. Don't settle for less than perfect and have someone who knows check out the tie rods etc. Good tie rods can make an average front end feel new.

My Jag did this same thing after I rotated the tries. It was due to eneven wear. Replcaed the tires and all was solved. Uneven pavement really made it bad.
