Question Electric Headlight Adjusters

The early cars had hydraulic adjusters fitted that always seemed to be faulty. The later cars had electric adjutsers, so I've bought a used pair (which are yet to arrive) and was wondering about the control circuitry needed. Can anyone help or suggest what I might need. I probably won't fit the control in the cabin to start with, under hood would be fine.

Control **** beside drivers seat and some wiring, think that's all there is to it. It's very simple system.

The loom to the headlamps appears to incorporate the adjuster wiring in the later cars, I won't be able fit this in my car, so I will need to create something in its place, I'm just not sure what it will need.

Check the little plastic sockets on the headlight mounting bracket where the plunger from the electric adjustor motor connects to the headlight assembly. You need some small plastic clips to hold the ball in place in the plastic socket or the plunger will just pull itself out of the socket when you try to adjust the beam. I am working through this on mine.

Paul,
Both headlight adjusters are connected directly together. Wire colo(u)rs should be RE/YE, GN/YE, BR/RE. Connect all same colors together.

You need to use the Porsche Potentiometer control for the other end - regardless of where you fit it. This also connects to exact same colors (should match). Also BR/RE connects directly to Ground (chassis if needed)
The RE/YE also connects to side lights positive (+12v when on) in the schematics so the aimers motors only work when the lights are on, should be your plan too - although any +12v fused ( and on with ignition only) would actually work OK here if that is problematic.

I'd suggest you wire it to the seat side position as intended and figure out the wiring - I don't see the point of remote aimers if you have to get out & raise the hood, besides a correctly located install will be more valued if/when you ever sell...

I seem to recall that the "swivel frame" 928 750 243 04 becomes 05 that is the big painted base of the headlight assembly and it was modified for clearance for the headlight adjuster motors.

I'm curious gents...what model year did they introduce electric adjusters? Would my 86.5 be electric? I don't seem to see any differences when I change the floor **** position.........tnx

Bill,
I think it was 89 and on, you probably have the non-functional hydraulic version... BTW this was only on Euro... a big no-no in the USA due to stupid DOT requirements.
