Well right now i have the tank in the hatch area. Since the bottle warmer says it can reach 400*, I thought it best to keep it away from things that might catch fire. I may move it down there later as that was my first thought too.

Well tonight I got everything together except for the fuel line - still need the get the right fitting. Bottle warmer doesn't come on, or at least I can't perceive it getting warm. The relay is clicking, so I guess I'll use my multi meter to check things out.

But I couldn't help myself. I had to drive it to see if there was any difference (even if i was running it dry). I figured, it should be ok for a few seconds. I just wanted to see if there was any difference.

Well, there was. It felt like I had hit the accelerator again - but not quite as strong. Again, I only ran it 3-4 times for a couple of seconds each time - no biggie. I'm curious how it will react when I get fuel running too. Stay tuned - I just found out my neighbor has an aluminun welding setup. I should have a full report about go go giggle juice tomorrow..

If there are typo's it's because I just finished a 6-pak at my next-door neighbor's house. (should make good reading for me tomorrow.... )

you are playing with fire, running a 50shot with no fuel. that could put you at 14.7 to 15.7:1 and that can burn a piston or valve in short order. remember what i was talking about why the NOS system works well on a 928???? its because we are going to use it correctly!!!!!!!

stop playing around, get the fuel nut for the fuel rail, weld on the fitting and then have some fun!!

NOS isnt flammable when it comes out of the bottle. So if you smack it with a hammer and crack it, it wont blow up. It just puts in more o2 to burn more o2 is where the hp comes from. Thats from what i have read.

thats right, its just cold air basically!!

I use it for filling tires now at the track, and some light air tool work! its not bad to have the amount of air of a 60 gal compressor, in a 10lb NOS bottle (plus, a 700psi potential!) usually lasts me all season and fills all the kid's tires and *****!

OK OK... Well Dennis said he's got a nut I can borrow/buy from him that's already tapped for a fuel pressure gauge. I got the right fitting to go grom that to an AN4. Other than that's it's ready to go VROOM! I can't wait. He was working today, but if he's off tomorrow... well I should have a very interesting post for you tomorrow!

BTW, I was trying to test the bottle warmer today to see if the regulator will shut off the warmer at 1050psi (or what ever it is). It took forever to get the bottle up to 800psi, and since I wasn't running it, I figured I should shut it off before I drain the battery.
Mark- how long does it normally take to get the tank up to operating temp?

i usually started at about 7-800psi depending on how full the bottle was, and it got to 1000psi in about 10 min or so. usually, i turned the bottle warmer on grid, by the time we start the race, its at pressure.

Went over to Dennis' house (Sueden here on rennlist) and got his nut that was tapped for a fuel pressure gauge. Installed it with the appropriate fitting and took it out. Remember, I have the 50 jets installed.

We found an industrial park to give it a test run. I didn't run the N20 in 1st, only 2nd. Anyway, did a run from 0-60ish without. Then went and re-ran the same stretch with and I said, "Holy Shiit!" when I hit the button. I'd say we ran hit 60 a good 100 feet sooner that without. With that success, we decided to hit the freeway to stretch our legs.

Interesting observations were, that you really feel it in 2nd, and progressively less in the higher gears. I guess this makes sense, but I didn't know what to expect. I'll probably swap out the jets for the 75 or 100 shot, just to see the difference. I'll take some final pictures later today and post for all to see.

Anyway, I'd like to send out a big load of thanks to Mark Kibort for his help in getting this together. It would have been much harder without your help. Also, a big thanks to Dennis for the fuelrail nut. Without it, the go-go juice would have been a no-go. And finally, I'd like to thank my wife for being in Japan these past few weeks witht he kids so I could install this without annoying her. Happy mother's day to the mother of my children.

If the weather is good, I'll be bringing it for Thursday night beer night. Cheers to all.

Great stuff!
Grab a gtech and get some perf numbers, that way you will know excatly where your at and what to expect from each level of "shot"

I'd be interested in how long those cast pistons will take the hammering. There was a hotrod article about taking a junk yard 350 and hitting it with various shots of Nirtous...it held up until they hit like a 150 HP shot, then the ring lands took a crap.

Be careful...remember any detonation on those pistons and you can call it a day....more like 4 months without your car.

My thoughts exactly. But my car/tool account is pretty much depleted right now, so I think I wait to see if someone has one at SITM or one of our beer nights. In any event, I definately want to get some data to see what I'm pushing.

I took my neighbor out and he had a BIG GRIN when we were done. That's what it's all about.

That's very interesting. I'm currently running the 75 shot and am very happy with that. I won't push it further until I'm ready to accept the consequences. But if it did happen, well then I'd know as much as Big Dave!

Oh, BTW, when you ready to sell it and it is not to soon let me have first shot at it. I might be in a better position by then.

Im sure i can speak for DR here, that we all need to be on good behavior on the local roads....well...at least some of them

That picture got me! I do plan on bringing my laptop Tony. If it's not too late... I'd like to call dibs. I'll let you sort out the pecking order. And of course we'll keep it within the legal confines of the area roads. Btw, if 928 speeds in the forest, and no cops are around, is it illegal? Just wondering.

Thats GREAT. Glad i could help. Kieth and the others owe you a beer for leaving one of the most important parts i made out!!! (next to the nosile, which was pretty hard to make, that modified nut was pretty important)
if you can now make a fuel pressure meter fit in there , you have got my old system back!

anyway, dont worry, the 50-75 shots wont make anything break. i went from 175 to 243 hp with mods and my engine lasted 175,000miles, 50k of racing and serious beatings, and it only needed a head gasket, that was gone due to old age. infact, when the head gasket was going, i used barrs stop leak to fix it, and a year later , started using the NOS. never got any worse with the NOS for many bottles!!

anyway, have fun!! glad its working out. post the dyno numbers to see if the fuel is perfect as it was

Nice job Andrew!

It is amazing how much more fun these cars are with a bit more "go" to match up with the brakes, suspension, and looks.

Hey Tony--that mirror looks real familiar. Lucky there was no SC on the car at the time
