That car was recently on Ebay...very slick piping. Imagine seperate pipes from each stock resonator leading to the area of the rear muffler, (following stock routing), then the passenger side pipe exits on the driver side, and the driver side pipe crossing behind the rear bumper cover and behind the battery box to exit on the passenger side. Does not interfere with gas tank. Very cool!

Dave C the factory Oval tip actually just fits over the two round pipes which exit the rear of the final muffler for the GT Porsche eliminated the oval and simply extended the existing two outlet pipes for "duals".

This dual exhaust car was on eBay. I saw it at Sharktoberfest too. The pipes were carefully routed around. The rear fascia looked absolutely perfect. Here is the eBay link.

Just left the bumper holes open, eh? I need to do some replacement on the rear bumper and mounts. I was trying to decide what it would look like with it just empty. Maybe on my marine blue, it wouldn't look to bad. But I periodically do parallel park, bumpers look better than a torn up fascia.

Ummm... ok.... that's good to know.

So, does that mean that the oval tip RMB is larger or smaller than the oval S4 tailipe?

EDIT: As in: is the 5"+ RMB outlet larger or smaller than the stock S4 ??" outlet? (Since I don't have an S4 to measure...) I would assume it to be very close since it has to fit in the cutout of the rear cover. And, hence, why I'm wondering why the single outlet RMB would 'rice out' the GTS.

Default Trick

You have to admit - thats not a bad custom job.

My question always reverts back to perfomance.

That looks pretty cool. The one I saw had - IIRC - the second pipe coming straight out of the side of the stock-looking muffler and then over to the p-side. It was at ICOC 2000. Anyone remember that one? (It was red I think...)

The stock oval is smaller but it also has an inner liner which is MUCH smaller than the OD plus the short length does not accentuate the base tones of the exhaust like 19-20 Inch straight pipe/pipes. The RMB rules !!

Well. Like DUHHH! I, like Gretch, think that the RMB is one of the best mods you can do from a fun/$ ratio.

The stock oval is smaller ...
OK. I cannot imagine how the GTS would looked 'riced-out' with the oval RMB. It's not like its only connected to four cylinders and hanging from a piece of coat hanger and dragging the ground like most of the fart pipes I see around here...

Not to take over the thread, but while everyone is talking about a RMB, how much louder is the car (from the inside) with a RMB installed, as opposed to the stock muffler? I've been contemplating buying a RMB, one, for the perfomance and two, for the deep muscle-car sound on the outside, but enjoy the sanity of a quiet interior.

My wife HATED the RMB on the 86.5 that I had for a short time. For her it was way too loud. However I'm not sure the rest of the muffler Had any stuffing in it or not, so I figure to check them out at SITM. By the way , way to go Jim Bailey. I'd love to see a post on the mods to your 80 with pics, faded or not. I have an 80 that I can't bear to part with and would love to track. Incidentally, I was at a Fun Run with a bunch of the Jersey Boys today, and all the really high dollar toys had aftermarket mufflers. The late model 9 series cars with stock mufflers sounded like CRAP at WOT. I guess some things never change. Italian cars always seem to soud good. Even a fiat has a better stock sound than most of the porshas I've driven. I guess there is a stealth factor in there, but my most redneck buddy says emphatically " LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES". If you rode with him in his truck you would agree. Makes me want to throw a Billy Boat SS rig on my 944S out of pure mortification. Deer and old ladies crossing the highway to get their mail will thank you.

I dont feel any need for anything like an RMB on my83 Euro-- its gets plenty droning at suburban speeds, and is not recommended for stop start traffic.
I just came back from a trip with an RMB in my wallet - costs around $0.12, has a picture of Mao on it...CHinese RMB - Renminbi is the unofficial name for their currency, strictly the Yuan, but most people call it the RMB.
jp 83 Euro S AT 49k.
