Spark Plugs/Wires for 85 Euro S
Since I have been blessed with an 85 Euros S, I was wondering what the concensus is on supplying it with normal tune up items like spark plugs and wires.
By my reckoning, the wires from any of the early L-jet models should fit the double distributor, plus one extra for the second coil. Is this correct? Is there a more subtle difference that I am not aware of?
I furthur conjecture that the spark plugs specified for the '85 US model should work. Is this also correct, or do the plugs for for the earlier models apply?
Does anyone have empirical data to support a better choice than Bosch Platinum (1, 2, or 4)? Denso's Iridium plug is nice, but I smell snake oil. Comments?

Don't know about the plugs, they may need to be shorter for higher compression. We could easily compare them. But the wires, I'd say you are correct. In fact, you can take any 928 plug wire harness and use the wires with your ends, just find the right lengths. Just the wires are pretty inexpensive and should work fine. I've got several plug wire harnesses and they all work fine with all models, just the ends need to be different. Look at the coil wire, our ends are different there. Use old ones.

Cool, thanks man. I'm gonna grab a set of Bosch wires for an '84 S and see if I can't come up with the extra coil wire too. Lifetime warranties are a beautiful thing!

Tim some of the early wires will be too short to fit the two distibutor Euro. Use the Bosche COPPER plugs WR8DC same as the other 16 valve motors.

Thanks Jim, I was hoping you guys would chime in! Since I change them every 30k or so, Platinum is sort of a non-essential. Since WR8DCs cost about a quarter of the Platinum 2 and a sixth of the Platinum 4 price, it's just one more good reason.

Custom '85 euro plug wires
Hi there,
I can make a custom set of euro plug wires for your twin-dist. 2v motor: different lengths than the S4 & S (4v models)!!! Coil wires will not fit either, lengths are WAY off.
Measure your wires (all 10 of them), and I can make a set in either black or blue (OEM Beru with OEM Beru brass threaded connectors) for $109 + $10 shipping.

I'd follow Jim's advice and buy the stock wires. I put a set of Nology wires on my own '85 S2, and though they look COOL...they are probably overkill and cost three times as much. That, and despite the fact that I installed them with the plug-ends pointing toward the firewall...they still have way too much slack- they're too long-!

Thanks Jim, I'll be in touch shortly. I've already got the little belt. That thing looks like it came out of a vacuum cleaner. I'm assuming the stock wires are the Beru, not Bosch variety correct? Do you stock Bosch? Would you honor the factory warranty if I needed to use it?
I've never read anything to convince me that Nology Hot Wires are any different in performance than standard wires. As a matter of fact, I recall someone posting on how they cut open a few of them to find that magic capacitor only to see a very nice set of well insulated and colorful wires. Just like the Tornado, that little inline resistor that riches up your fuel injections, and most any of the chips out there: Snake Oil.
