Hey Y'all,
I might have mentioned earlier that my father-in-law just about wet himself when I brought my S4 for him to see last August. He waxed at length about how he'd always wanted one, how cool they are, etc. After he drove it that day, it couldn't have been more than a month later when he couldn't stand thinking about them anymore, and made his "statement of intent to buy." He said he was going to wait until Spring, so I thought it was a bug that would pass. Well, today he gave me his parameters, so he's serious and ready to start shopping.
Here's what I need; a low mileage, airbag equipped (what's that, '90?) autobox in excellent condition, in a red or tan-esque exterior color. He's not looking for the cheap deal, but a car that is fully sorted, complete, well maintained, basically stock, and in very good to outstanding condition.
Any tips that you all can provide will be appreciated! And honestly, I'd love to send him a Rennlister's car if the right one is available.
Thanks for reading,
Chaad

Chaad-
The best advice is for our FIL to get a pre-purchase inspection. Is he willing to turn a wrench? Does he know the expense of maintaining one? Tell him to budget $1k to $2k for annual maintenance. Somes years will be less, others will be higher as I'm sure you are starting to see. Hope to see you on the 14th... wait a minute, I might not be there, oh well... Hope to bump into you soon. Cheers!

Not to be harsh but, if he wants an AT, why do you have "GT" in your title? You are vague on color; If he is fexible, how fexible? You do not state price range. I have done extensive searches for others, for pay and free but stopped when they could not be specific on the big 3, price, color and miles. SeanCar makes his living doing just this. I'm not a fan of brokers, but they do (sometimes) invest considerable time and have only their reputation to show (you) for it.

Thanks guys, and Dennis, what a great idea to get him to the next meeting! That'd really get him excited, I'm sure, seeing a whole lineup! As to the green one in Birmingham, I don't think he'll go for that color; he told me "red or tan color," which I took to mean a champagne, gold, nougat, or the like. But thank you anyway.
Chuck, thanks for the link. I don't usually check the Registry because I don't know how up to date the listings are. I'll make my first visit in awhile right now!
SteveG-- good point with the GT thing; I didn't realize all GTs are 5spd. He definitely wants an automatic. I think he's flexible on color insofar it's either red or in the tan range. That said, if the perfect car at an unbelievable price came up in silver... Mileage is the same way; sub 80k is the target, but the perfect car ant an unbelievable price, fanatically kept with 100k... Finally, on price, he wants it in the $30k range.
I'll keep my eye on the 'List, guys!
