Default After 8 months, Kermit is ALIIIIIVE again! - Question about fuel leak(s)

Well, for the first time since last July Kermit roared to life and saw the light of day. Put everything back together and installed a fresh battery, the car fired right up. It sounded super strong and smooth! Until......... fuel started gushing out from the fuel strainer at the bottom of the tank and out of the connection just above the fuel filter.

I know I have to replace the o-ring seal again (or can I tighten further?) at the fuel filter my question is this. I am concerned about bearing down on the strainer to tighten it in an effort to stop the leaking. I am worried about breaking the threaded end in the tank loose. How tight should it be? How easy is it to break that connection loose? Could I have a bad seal? I put anti-seize on the threads, could this be the problem? Can I put anything on the threads or connection to seal it up good?

You know me, here is a couple pics of the festivities from today. Stan Pendergraft has been helping me the last couple days put things back together and I am forever grateful! The last two pictures are of the leaking areas.

I'm always the guy that tries to reuse those copper washers. It never works. I also recall in my current 78 that that area in the fender well would pretty difficult to get a good crush on those washers.

Please tell me you had those bolts re-cadmiumed, and that they weren't just like that when you wahed them off.

Surely cadmium plate is now illegal, its so very toxic to work with? When I tried to replace my in tank filter I turned the insert moulded in the tank. Thought I was a cert for a new tank, until I tried some gas proof epoxy - PC11 two part. Sealed it up a treat, hasnt leaked a drop in 3 years now. before going that far, I would check the torque spec on the filter, anti-sieze the threads, and try again with a new seal. About to acquire another tank for $70, so I can fit a new filter and clean up the input to the pump.
Car looks superb, really jealous here.

You can re-anneal copper sealing washers. Heat them up cherry red with a torch and they should be good as new. Standard procedure for copper sealing washers used in the heads of my CBX motorcycles.

Blue hylomar the threads. Check carefully that there isn't a crack on the bottom of the tank where the fitting could have split it. Don't screw too tight, or you will be using epoxy. NICE PICS.

There was nothing wrong with the car. I was doing some re-furbishing of the underside. Seems the years in NH had taken its toll on all the nuts, bolts and washers under the car. I also had the battery box and tank strap powder coated black. I must say, it really does look good underneath. More pics when I get the gas leaks fixed and can put it on my lift for better access to view the underside.

All the nuts and bolts you see that look new, are new, many $ spent replacing them. All the cad plated parts were pretty corroded and couldn't be cleaned up, most of those pieces were replaced too.

As for the gas leaks, I know better than to reuse crush rings (well, until I read Bill's post) and all connections that were opened up had new crush rings put in.

Daniel, What is Blue hylomar and where do I get it? Is this something I'd use on the tank threads? How about the threads on connections in the fuel lines?

A lot of you might know, this is a major under taking for me. I apologize for what might seem like naive questions but its been so long since I've worked on my own car I am still learning. I appreciate your assistance.

Chuck-
That's one fine piece of green. Now you need to find a '82 weissach with the luggae to round out the collection.
