This story does not rank as much of an accomplishment, but has some degree of entertainment value nonetheless.

Many years ago, I was driving the '84 shark down to the Bullfrog Marina on Lake Powell. From the little hamlet of Hanksville, UT down to Bullfrog, the road is wondrous. It's got tight curves, sweepers, long straights, hills and dales, and whoop-de-doos - all through a stark, desolate, beautiful no-man's land of redrock formations and coral sand desert. And there's rarely a minion of the law to be seen. There aren't many vehicles of any kind to be seen for that matter - especially in March before boating season really starts.

Well, not long after I had left Hanksville, I notice an older Ford Fairlane breathing down my neck from behind. Well, I'm sorry, but no Ford Fairlane was gonna pass the shark! So I gently opened her up a little and moved away, thinking he'd figure out the pecking order and stay back.

Nope. A couple miles down the road, there he is again straining to catch up. This time, I smile to myself and open 'er up pretty good. It's obvious the Ford is trying to stay with me as best he can. Once again I put a few miles between us and settle down to conversation with my friend who was along for the ride.

Well, before long, like a bad penny, the Fairlane comes huffing and puffing up behind again. To make a long story short, we played this little cat and mouse game all the way to Bullfrog - a distance of perhaps 80+ miles. I'd ease on up to 130-140 or so, leave him hopelessly behind, then back down only to eventually see this little dot in the mirror laboring away to catch up.

We both finally stopped at the Bullfrog gas station. This lanky cowboy unfolds himself from the Fairlane. He was so danged excited to come over and talk to me I was worried about his bladder control. Turns out he had dropped some bigger, hotted-up Mustang powerplant in the old Fairlane and was pretty proud of his old girl. "Hot damn! I couldn't keep up with that there Porch! I thought I had power to spare with this engine, but I never seen a car could pull away from me like that 'un of your'n could!"

For my part, I don't think I've ever seen a car do this, but I swear, nearby his trusty Ford steed was heaving, gasping, and sweating profusely! It didn't puke, but I was nervous for the old girl.

He was actually a fun guy to visit with. Didn't really mind getting beat by a furrin' car. Just had himself a barrel of fun like he'd never had before and appreciated a fine automobile.

Default Yes 517 rwhp!

Im in the process of building a water to air intercooler(modified from a gmc syclone) so that I can up the boost a little bit from 8.5 to 10-11 psi.injector size will also go up too.I have read on this board that someone has reached 556 rwhp so I have a long way to go to be top dog.I think he builds the blower kits that are the rage.Top quality from what I have heard!I think he races superbikes not cars!I have msds headers,an x pipe and 2.5 inch pipes all the way back.I never thought I would be at this hp level or I would have gone with 3.0 inch pipes!Iam amazed at the potental of these cars and I am sure a blown stroker could put up amazing numbers.I cant help but smile to myself when driving my shark thinking that the latest ,greatest supercar has no idea what what these cars can do.Hey, its just a 928!

I came out of a toll the other day and noticed a SL 55 next to me. We where heading for a long bridge and a pretty clear road ahead, so I gunned it. I cought him by surprise and was about a length ahead of him 3/4 up the bridge and backed off since there are always cops behind the bridge. He blew by me full throttle with a victorious smile and kept on going all the way down the bridge. He must have had 140 on the clock as he blew by the trooper in a 40 MPH zone. I cruised by the cop at 40 and he shortly past me going after the Mercedes with his lights on.
I felt really sorry for the dude in the SL.

Not a kill story, but it might have been.
Tony took me for a ride in his supercharger yesterday and it was great!!! We came to a stop on one of the street that was pretty clear of traffic. He gave it a second before he gun it and the car was instantly going sideway. He had to let off the gas to straighten us out. The pull on the car was making me grin from ear to ear. Anyway, on our way back to his house, Tony spotted a Lamborghini going our direction. Tony left the car in first and waited for the Lamborghini to pull up next to us, but he never did. He was content to stay 9 or 10 car length behind us. Mind you, the street was clear. Since he didn't want to play, Tony nailed the gas and we were gone. On my way home, for some reason my shark feels underpower. Any how, if Tony offer you a ride in his car, do it, it's a please. Thanks Tony.

Your Welcome Thanit.
It would have been interesting but i think he has the gearing advantage plus 575chp tends to make short work of most anything.. Sure is a pretty car though

Anytime anyone is in town and wants to see or ride in my car, let me know.
Mr Flott Leben was too busy stuffing dollar bills where they shouldnt be and loosing at craps so he missed out earlier this week.
next time.

This is what i saw in my mirror as i waited for him to catch up so we could play.

I killed my car (345rwhp 86.5, 4.9sec 0-60) with Chris' 400rwhp+ GTS. Started from 2nd gear @ 4000RPM, ended at 4th gear

I have a feeling that this thread will spark a run on superchargers. It's got me thinking.

Heh, I now drive a Jetta (the 175hp one, but still a jetta), but at least my dad occasionally lets me drive his Miata (only 128 hp, but at least RWD).

Well this one happened today on the way to Fontana to see the Grand American Rolex sportscar series. We decided to take the 210 out since it's a newer freeway and hopefully therefore, less traffic. Moving at a pretty good clip, jumping from traffic clump to traffic clump, we came up on a C32 Mercedes Benz. The lady I was with remarked that it was a cool looking car. I replied that the C32 is a pretty ferocious car in drag races from a stop and I wasn't all that familiar with what it could do from a roll. Until today.

So, this driver decides to stay with me (ahead of me that is) and I THOUGHT we were cruising together. I gave her a healthy distance from the rear and we cruised like this for probably 10 miles or so. She then started weaving in and out of traffic. From the car pool lane to the slow lane. She'd do a few of these moves and let me catch up. WTF?!? we were thinking. Then traffic got really, really light and the driver floored it. Saw the rear and drop, the pipes clear and she was gone. Eventually she slowed and I caught back up. She nailed it again and this time I half heartedly kept up. She then slowed again and I had had enough. There was nothing on the freeway with us at this point. So I say to my co driver, here goes nothing, I'm not sure if I'm going to get drop kicked or not. I manually shifted the auto to 3rd and with the RMB the car got really loud and the C32 took off. Or tried to. I caught it at the top of 3rd and actually had to back off the throttle. I stayed there hovering at 5500 rpm and the C32 was huffing for all it was worth and I just plain went around her. The C32 driver tried to draft me but the gap just started opening up. I never looked at the speedo. At about 10 or so car lenghts I lifted and she came hurtling up and by me with a big thumbs down.

We slowed again and I rolled my window down to hear what she was yelling at me which was, "I can take that car easy, my license is suspended so I didn't want to go nuts." Yeah right! We watched you spend the last 15 miles weaving in and out of traffic....THEN we raced and fellas you can tell me what speed I was going in an auto 89 in 3rd gear at 5500 rpm but we raced from there...so at what point did this chick figure she was breaking the law and had to "let" me win?!! Uh huh, I yelled back, "I know what your car is capable of, it can eat this (my car) for lunch any old time. "Ohh ok" she yells back and now gives me a thumbs up. Then incredibly a Honda Civic goes flying by at some ridiculous speed and she was off chasing him. We were just about at our exit at that point. How bizarre.

In the Grand Am Cup race I figure Mark A would've been running around 4th or 5th since a few GT3 cars I've seen him race were in those positions. The lead cars were one Nissan 350Z and two new Mustang GT's at the beginning of the race. Towards the middle Boris Said was leading in an M3. I'll find out tomorrow how he did.

An older Mustang GT (1990?) with a large hood scoop pulled up next to me at a stop light today. We pulled off of the light fairly relaxed, but stayed side by side for awhile. It was as if we were both trying to figure out if the other one wanted to race. We both came to a point where we weren't going any faster, but wasn't going any slower (about 35mph). I would say we both punched it about at the same time. I expected it to be a challenge......him with a big hood scoop and all, but I pretty much left him like he was standing still. If he was stock, I probably had 100 more hp . Afterwords, we gave a friendly wave to each other.
I mentioned to my wife, who was really excited, "too bad we don't have a supercharger" .............She thinks our car needs one.
