I spoke with your yesterday Carl and I understand you will be out today. I appreciate your time on Thursday. Don't worry - I get the "you're off the charts" thing all the time. I wouldn't have it any other way.

On the issue of the flywheel - I can get emachineshop to make a one off of whatever toothed timing wheel that I need - and it can press on the outer diamter of the flywheel. I guess my question to you is - what were you planning on changing physically on the lighter flywheel to work with the timing gears? YOu mention a groove?

hey guys I just had a theory about the flywheel and crankshaft journal failure on these 928s. I was wondering if weight accompanied by misalignment would cause wear of the shaft and the crankshaft journals. If the flywheel is lighter, perhaps it would take a lot of stress off the crankshaft (like it's supposed to do) along with provide a more stable drivetrain without the dreaded crank failure issue. Maybe it would end some troubles over this catastrophic disaster hope I'm getting my point across right.

BTW, how does it work for automatic 928s???

Andy ,not applicable to automatics. The weight is not the issue for thrust bearing problems.

Progress report - I just received two 1800 pound pressure plates in that I have been waiting for (that was the job just in front of the aluminum flywheel with timing gear) and hollered (sp?) at the machinist what the ^%* was taking so long with the flywheel and timing gear setup.

I'm ******* him - the first one does take a little longer because we have to document everything so we can make more just like it.... but I do expect it soon.

Brendan - you might get the first if you want it.
