Dupont has similar products to SEM. Both contain vinyl resins. They also have similar top coats. I've use the Dupont on my 2002 Ford Explorer. A local automotive paint store (D'Angelos) put it in 16oz spray cans for me which made application easy without a spray gun.

They also had a color chart for 2002 Ford interior colors and that's what I went with and it was a perfect match, but I had to lightly coat each piece completely. There are a few D'Angelos here in the L.A. area.

On my 928, I used the Leatherique leather dye (Silk Grey). I was also pleased with the results.

For an entire Porsche, including door panels, headliner, side panels, you could probably make it with the 16oz kit.
Thanks for the great info! I'm doing the complete restore to the seats as you described because I don't expect a good match. I'm glad to hear the 32oz will leave me some extra for touch up or the sides and rear if the color is way off. I'm hoping it's close enough that you really can't tell since the seats aren't side-by-side with the doors.

I didn't think about the diluting for an airbrush. I haven't purchased the airbrush yet, just a nice accessory for the 28gal. air tank. I figured an airbrush would be more even since you can lay down several really light coats. My 18 year old is an artist too so I figured she might like to use it to airbrush some 928 shirts!!!

Thanks again! Hopefully it will turn out really nice.

I used leatherique on my car last summer and it seemed to do a good job. Took a long time to do the whole interior. I have the 2 tone leather seats so I had to make sure I didn't get any on the middle sections of the seats. It seems to be holding up fine so far. Once it warms up I am going to see if the dye stays on well or if it rubs off or wipes off if it gets a little wet. If it rubs or wipes off if it is a little wet then I will have to redo the whole car with something else. I could just imagine someone coming into my car and if the seats got a little wet with rain and they sit down on the seat and get up with a nice chocolate brown stain on their butt!!

I used colorplus.
www.colorplus.com

I sent them a sample of graphite grey and they matched it to 99.9% of some technical term i know nothing about
Very durable and im very happy. I redyed my flight bag 2 years ago using there product, actualy Porsche Black , it has held up great with the abuse my bag gets being tossed in and out of cockpits and hotel vans!
I sprayed it on using my badger 350 Airbrush i use for my plastic models

Try these guys. I got factory color matched spray dye from them and it worked great. The guy who does my upholstery says he's never seen better.

jserio - I too had that color . I can almost guarantee a No-Match. That's why my interior ended up black!

I have been told it is not the console which goes with the 78 Euro.

Thanks again for the info!

Dave

Also the steering wheel cover is wierd and I am afraid to see what is underneath it ......

I too have the gray -green interior in my 86. I would greatly appreciate it if you could send me the formula info also. I use quite a bit of SEM products.......they work! I would like to freshen up my gray-green interior. My email is cgray50@comcast.net. My fax # is 615-862-6288. Thanks
