Default Dropped a piston. :(

From about 4 feet.

Is it still usable? It dropped on the egde of the crown and displaced a bit of aluminum. I measure just under the "pushed" edge and it measures the same as the oposite diameter.

Anyone have any 87 pistons tolerance 2? I need a whole set.

Leave no doubt and quit speculating: take it to a speed-shop and have them mic it up for you. That way you'll know for sure one way or the other.

You still deserve some form of punishment for not being more careful though...

<--- This guy is doling out a major ***-kickin' on Brendan!

Yep. Consider my *** kicked. I was just quickly trying to switch the pistons out of the simple green "soak" system, and I dropped one.

I have a digital micrometer, but I can get access to the C-shapped ones as well.

If you put the rings back on it and they still move freely without binding its ok. But like Justin said a magnaflux test isnt a bad idea. Post a picture of the damage if you can. The only other thing you have to worry about is a burr on the edge that will cause a hot spot...use a light file or 220 sand paper there. I've dropped pistons a few times, nobody wants to but everybody ends up doing it sometimes. I wouldn't worry about it.

Get the bike show girls to pose with your car - the best of both worlds.
