You just have to find someone that really knows what they are doing! My rear window is done in one piece as well as my rear quarters. The 928 is really not very hard to tint. Depending on your state laws, I would put 20% on the rear window with 35% down the sides. It will be dark but have a factory color to it..

It's a beautiful car and will look even better once you tint it. It needs tinted, was the first thing I thought when I saw it.

Congrats on a beautiful find!
I usually would not even consider it on a 928 but always do it on our daily drivers. Since all the original stickers are gone anyway, it will help preserve the leather rear quarter trim and the rest of the interior. The guy who does our tint is REALLY good.

Chuck
Nice find! Another fine GTS to the stable!!! Looking at the long option list on a 95....it had to MSRP at around 100K!! The COA should be interesting!

Chuck,

Nice! Can you post close-ups of the speaker grills and steering wheel?

I see black chrome wheels in your future.

Interesting are the speaker surrounds in wood - they are not part of the Exclusive price list of 1995 - might be a none-off option.

The rear window washer was an option, and Heinrich has been asking about more detail on it. Now Chuck will be the first one to be able to provide this bit of information.

Awesome!!!

Will,

I was told by the first owner he had $140,000 into the car including the stereo (at the time it had McIntosh amps and a big sub woofer in the back, which are gone now).

Borland,
I'll get some pics later today. Actually, as much as I like the black chrome, I'm probably going to redo them in the gloss black as they came stock.

Nicole,
The wood matches so good if they are not a one off option they are a perfect aftermarket match but guess what, if they are not stock they will probably go too.

I am fascinated by the rear window washer myself. The nozzle looks like one on the hood, it's just mounted at a funky angle on the rear hatch.

Here is the list of options:

CO2 - 48 state emissions
MB8 - ?
XL4 - rootwood center console, door panels and trim inlays w/analog clock
XN8 - leather sunvisors
XR7 - rear window washer
X23 - ?
X31 - rootwood parking brake lever
139 - heated seat left
331 - CR-1 radio
340 - heated seat right
418 - body side mouldings
513 - lumbar left
570 - increased AC
586 - lumbar right
650 - sunroof
692 - CD changer
980 - draped leather

Not sure what M8B or X23 are but guessing they might have something to do with leather door panels and rear AC unit cover? Dash and console are not leather.

Changing sig now...

What if you can't verify this? I mean, they certainly are unique and very pretty in that otherwise all black interior!

Good question. I spoke to the first owner last week, I could always call and ask him. I'm thinking they are factory because they fit so well on all the speakers including the big speakers behind the front seats on the rear quarter panel cover.

Lovely car you have there. Congrats.

...and with the speaker surrounds, maybe you could just take our word that it is factory and leave them on. You know you want to.

I read through my Exclusive book and the M-codes are usually having to do with mobile phone related equipment. Is the phone in your car installed from factory?

This is the Crown Jewel.
When Chuck says
Paint is in desperate need of some attention..
...I'm guessing that's a bit like Tiger Woods saying that his drive could use some improvement. If the paint needs help here & there, the pictures sure don't show it.
My money is on the speaker rings/bezels being factory. That seems like a whole lot of work for somebody to do aftermarket for such a limited application. It would have to be a one-time custom job using the removed speakers as a template, and a sample of the burlwood for grain, finish, etc. Anybody capable of that would charge huge money for the job....likely more than the ungodly amount of if it were a factory option.
There should be a new profile status for Chuck....a step beyond "Addict". Something like "Aficionado" or "Curator" or "Connoisseur".
Isn't there a specific word for the owner of a collection, or museum who is an expert on the collectibility/value of the artifacts?
How about:

Chuck, that is one of the meanest looking 928's I've seen. I like it. Congrats!
