The cross-section area of two 2.5s is slightly bigger than one 3.5, but the passage through the fan shroud may be smaller than that. I like this idea of drawing air there. I have no problem widening the fan shroud cutouts or even fabricating a box to place a standard or larger filter in front of the radiator, kinda like Blownbeast has done. Anyway, I'll pay for and take the new intake if it is ready when you ship my kit. Look forward to your dyno update....and the kit.

Damn. I was just in Atlanta last week. Wish we could have gotten together Andy, and I wish I could be there for the dyno session also..!

Looking forward to seeing the results!

Bill,
The 2.5' id hoses pass though the holes with no problem. They then ovalize to around to come out the front and bend over the radiator. A little of the cross section is lost (not woried about that, plenty big compared to TB). Only thing that concerns me is the sharp bend over the rad. and that dosen't concern me much as that is the way it was done for the 452chp dyno recently.
BTW your's is even prettier because the bracket is machined off the top.

Abby,
You should have contacted me. If you come back let me know.

Bad Andy, I haven't read about this new intake set up on your website yet, your breaking your own golden rule!!

Seriously though that is more or less what I had in mind for Heidi was to go over the radiator with the intake.

Shane,
Yeah I know but the subject was brought up here. You'll have to replace the stock electric fan in front of the rad to be able to get a filter up front on the 85-86 cars. Other than that it would work great.

We're still on for today at 4:00.

See ya at 4! Would you mind if I brought some test equipment to try?? (uses 1 inductive pickup on your #1 coil wire)

Damn that's fun!! I'll let Andy post the details... prepare to be impressed.

Sorry about my logger taking a big dump in front of everyone. Did a little logging on the way home with my PT to test it.. works as it should if the pickup is isolated. The inductive pickup is too sensative and was picking up interferance from the adjacent coil wires. Next time I'll try and isolate a plug wire if that's cool with you.

Default Supermodel dyno and BBQ, T-storms and hail

For those who don't know, Perry not only has a stellar 951...He's got a whipple on his PT Cruiser.
And he's got the 928 bug bad.
Good job Andy. Now on to the big boy next time.

Perry 951,
Thanks for helping with the runs again. We'll get your logger kicking in 2-3 weeks when I go back with the twin-screw setup.

Well it was a lot of fun. 4 people came out. The hail/thunderstorm kept us wrangeld at JR's until about 9:00. We did a lot of bench mechanicing on the torque tube and transmission.
Here are the charts.
I used 3 pullies.
The first was the same as I used last time for the non-intercooled setup 6.7 psi. The addition of the IC gained 26RWHP. This is one of the small intercoolers that I no longer make.
387.41RWHP/484.26CHP

Next size down = 7.7psi 393.87RWHP/492.3CHP

Next size down = 8.5 psi 401.88RWHP/502.35CHP

All runs made with 30# injectors, and 85-85 FPR, x-pipe, 93 octane. NO RRFPR needed or used.

Friday night I am going to do some 1/4th mi runs. After Friday I'll be taking this setup off and selling it, $4880 complete. It's the Jag/Eaton M112 Stage 3 Intercooled system. It has a sightly smaller intercooler but has brand new SC (except for < 1000 miles I put on it) instead of a rebuilt one. This setup normally sells for $5080.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, all runs were made with absolutely no tuning.

NIce work Andy! This re-enforces the great kit you produced. I'm glad I have one of your SC kits. My beast is running nicely, just some finishing work to be done, like the guages and cleaning some of my work up. Anyway it has been pouring here in San Diego. When I get my new pulleys, what is the best way to remove them from the M112 unit?

Great work again!!

Thanks Pete! I'll be picking up some more of the adapters Tomorrow or Wed. I'll send the pulley puller with it so you can swap to the adapter.
BTW with your 5 speed this would have been 408RWHP with only 6.7 psi, 413.56 and 422 respectively.
I think you should go with the 6.7 psi pulley since you have only 91 in San Diego. I'll send that one unless you say otherwise.
Keep dry and look for a package Friday or Monday!

Thanks Andy. 6.7 psi will make my commute more fun than it should be! Thanks again!
