Default 928 Turbo

Hello!

I'm building a 928s with a strosek kit and a S4 engine from 1988, with a race agenda. I'm going to put a turbo in there also, lots of forum colleges in Sweden says alot about that . Okey, Im doing it anyway.
I'm looking for information about were I can buy new injectors?
The ones a have today is Bosch 0280150706. (about 20 lbs/h)
The ones I need is 46 lbs/h. I've heard that a ford V8 has this wich fits. Boshnumber?

Here is a link to my new turbo, its the large one...of course.

Have thought about a rear mounted turbo? Do a search on the subject here, you will find it very interesting.

Yes, I have read that thread now!
Im not going to put it there in the back though, I'm putting it in the front of the motor, I'm going to put in between the radiator and the engine by reversing the exausts to the forward instead (change place of the ...dont now the name of it in english ... from right to the left and vice versa).

Does anyone know where I can by #46 fuel injectors?

Sounds like an aggressive project - Good luck with it. I hope the heat from forward-directed exhaust manifolds doesn't melt your belts. Hopefully there is enough room up there to re-route as needed.

Are you simply swapping your left and right manifolds or are you fabricating new ones?

Hello!

Thanks for the links, they will be great!
I will buy from the states because its cheaper and more to chose from and I dont think it will be any problem. Found ford #48. Looked tonight at my injectors witch had number 0280150760 nothing else. At www.fiveomotorsport.com they had 0280150556-D5B wich should be the same.

Can I switch these to ACC-150848 (Link http://store.summitracing.com/defaul....asp&x=20&y=10)????

48 lbs/h would be great.

Are you simply swapping your left and right manifolds or are you fabricating new ones?
I will try to swap them, shouldent be any problem.

I will put the turbo down to the right and move the cooler forward 20 cm and down in a angle. Then I will have lots of air around it.

I will keep you updated in the future!

I am curious how you will have the car idle with the 46# injectors... The Bosch LH computer cannot calibrate itself for njectors greater than 30#...

How much power are you looking to make..? Are you going to use an aftermarket engine computer to replace the LH...? Are you going to use the stock pistons and heads..?

Those turbos look awfully big.. Is this a race car..? Will you use AWIC or AAIC..?

Good Luck, and keep us posted,

What kind of turbo is it? Where'd you source it from? It has a twin-entry... is it also twin-scroll?

Along with Richard, I'm also interested in how you're going to control fuel/ignition on this 'project'.

The bolt pattern for the exhaust three per port are not such that you could not reverse the manifold (edit ...second thought they would reverse BUT) the engine mounts and crossmember support are in the way. For a race car it might make sense to mount turbos at the base of the windshield where the heater box etc. used to reside.

Hello all!

Tjaba, nice seeing you here Peter!

The turbo is from a volvo diesel truck and is build for 650 hp but I will not have so much boost, dont worry. Twin scroll - I dont know.

I have not decided ignition yet (costs tm) so I will wait with that. I will start out with testing fuelcontroller APEXI S-AFC 2 and boostcontroller of ordinary simpel model with a blow off valve. Ive heard that up to 50% off fuel can be reduced at idle with a FC, is that true????

Is the injectors to big for idle anyway???
Or will I have higher RPM in idle only?

Those turbos look awfully big.. Is this a race car..? Will you use AWIC or AAIC..?
Yes, bigger is better! Yes, its a racecar but I will try it out on road sometimes... I will use a FM aircooled IC.

How much power are you looking to make..? Are you going to use an aftermarket engine computer to replace the LH...? Are you going to use the stock pistons and heads..?
500 Hk in engine at first, maybe a mega squert or such in the future (not today anyway) but first FC. Stock pistons and heads.

The bolt pattern for the exhaust three per port are not such that you could not reverse the manifold (the engine mounts and crossmember support are in the way..
Hm ok, I am able to get the manifolds altered in the mounting in the workbench somehow! I hope anyway or I will make new. Lots of stuff have been removed from the engine so nothing is in the way down on the right side, in left its only the generator... I will go around that somehow.

I have a electrical steering servo so that is really out of the way. One other thing I thougt trough is that the length of the tubes going form manifolds to turbo will have different diameter to get same air pressure.

Esimated finish (or drivable anyway): Summer 2006.

Please do come with tips and Hm-that-is-weird-do-that-instead.

/Jonas

Nice aluminum door panels!

I've been looking for a picture of the Euro bumper non-shock forever - finally!

What kind of el-steering did you use? Electric rack or electric hydraulic pump?

Jonas how about using a rear axle CV mounted pulley near the transmission to drive the alternator/ generator. You only need charging when you are MOVING ! I also think the radiator should be in the rear ......
