The VIN in the lower lower section of the ad is not valid and no vn is listed in the Ebay form. 70k is hopefully too many miles for Wilhoit to buy it. Can anyone see anything obvious about this VIN that would make it invalid? I ensured all the 0's are zeroes. I emailed for the correct number. Unfortunately, most times an ad has an invalid or no VIN, something winds up being wrong.

One problem is the 5 following the P should be an S.
Another interesting thing I see, it appears the "928 GTS" emblem has been off the car and replaced (if it came with one at all). Look at these three pictures, the first is of the subject GTS and the other two are from my website. Notice how much further apart the 928 and the GTS are on the gray car as compared to the blue cars. Replaced, painted or added????
Good catch. The VIN went with the S. No problems and very little info. Originally a lease and it looks like whoever leased it, purchased it at the end of lease. I think anyway. I only see one registration, everything else is renewals.
VIN: WP0AA2923PS820072
Year: 1993
Make: Porsche
Model: 928 GT
Style/Body: 2 Door Coupe
Engine: 5.4L V8 MPI
Country of Assembly: Germany
Decent example......but why is the console wood so much different in shade from the ashtray and gearshift color?? Maybe something was added at a later date. Slate Grey is nice color, but not for everyone......one of those "should see it in person" colors to get a full idea.
Dave I have no idea what has become of Steve Taub, I was only referring to the service records which show this particular car to have been through that service bay. Everything about that place was terrible and Porsche dropped Steve first, then Audi a few months to a year later. This place is in Santa Monica and now has a huge sign that says, "Under new ownership" because he did try to operate as Steve Taub Inc. for a few months. For all I know he might still be a shadow owner in the whole thing. Also, this car is now located a few hours north of santa monica.
Hmmmm...car is up to over $33K with about 20 hours left and 35 bids. That tells me there are a few players that reeeeally want this car.
Maybe we should start a pool or some squares as to what the final price will be. ...should be a good game by the looks of it. I am gonna guess $36K (which I think is a consevative figure)
I expect is will come down to the 4th quarter with 2 minutes left in the game. There could be a frenzy over this car in the final moments.
(Dang- I have to run out and get some popcorn and drinks for this)
BTW, it looks like this Isimports guy is getting into the 928 resell biz as he has others on ebay. Just worth noting.

It is common practice to have "friends" make shill bids to protect the car from selling at too low a value or some people simply like to bid against them self. It is like musical chairs and when the music stops they hope a REAL buyer is stuck on the high bid.
I didn't want to say it Jim - you said it for me. I don't know how anybody....dealer or not could have the confidence to list something like this without a reserve, unless they have some backup bidders waiting in the wings if the bidding doesn't get high enough.
Chuck...Mr. Eagle-eyes! You saw something just from photos that the final purchaser will likely miss - even after owning, washing & waxing the car for years(unless he's following this thread).
Tom....you're a bonafide hoarder, aren't you (I mean that only in the good sense)
2 hrs to go........
Interesting to see that $34600 took the car with all that it was described to be. I must be alone in all of this as I hate it when these cars sell for so little. I can see the abused ones out there going for pennies on the dollar, but a fine example (as this appears to be) doesn't even get a good fight.

I too would have liked to have seen it go a little higher. However, KBB for a '93 with 75k miles is $28k. (Yes, yes, I know, BB means squat mostly) Still, $34k isn't too bad. Also, there was speculation about some funny business on the rear end. I wonder if 'exclusive' will re-set the logo, etc. How long before they re-list ya think?
