Default 928 Salesrooms in San Francisco?

I'll be in San Francisco the week of Feb. 14th (Sun Systems Conference). In between meetings I like to check out the exotic car shops...that potentially have 928s. Any suggestions? I also check out the newspapers. You never know, I could fly down and drive another monster machine back home!

You don't find 928s in showrooms these days... not even in San Francisco.! The most 928s you can see in one place is at DEVEK in REdwood city (www.devek.net) - which requires some driving.

Otherwise, if you are still here on the 19th, there is a fun drive with lots of Porsches, including a few 928s.

Or you could fly in a few days early and join us for Beth's timing belt party in Napa...

What's the world coming to? No 928s in exotic car showrooms in a town like SF? (Shhhhh...don't let the ROW know our secret about 928s being the greatest!).

Beth's belt party sounds fun but the timing (no pun intended) won't work out.

My party will be fun! And Nicole, I bought the black car from an exotic car dealer in Belmont, "Cammisa Motor Car Company", Ferraris, Porsches, Mercedes, Jaguars, etc. So 928's do pop up now and then in exotic car showrooms.

As Nicole pointed out in another thread, there are two very nice 928s in a Plesanton showroom right now, but that is 40 miles inland from SF.

Yes, but they are rarely "IN" (inside) of a showroom - usually they sit on some lotoutside...

Here's place that's right in the City. Every once and awhile I'll see a 928 on their showroom floor

Thanks, Jim, I'll check it out. Also, Bill, Pleasanton isn't too far away from SF. What's the name of the shop?

Thanks,

Harvey

Cammisa's in Burlingame (not Belmont, that's where we used to be!) and is just a short walk from the Caltrain station, which you can pick up just a few blocks from the Moscone Center where your conference is most likely located.

Hop back on the train and continue south, stop off in Redwood City - give us a jingle and if someone's available we'll pick you up at the train station for a visit! Just sold two 928s this week so don't know if we will have any that are currently for sale, but lots to look at!

Then you can continue south on the train to Sunnyvale and visit California Motorsports on El Camino, they are an almost-exclusively Porsche used car showroom.

Hope to see you on your visit, if not, enjoy the Bay Area!

I live down the street from California Motorsports on El Camino Real and check it out all the time. Rarely do they ever have a 928 in there, and if they do, bring TONS of money. They don't give any car away, and prices are HIGH.
In fact, they seem to have cut their inventory drastically lately. If you like I can check them out again. Thinking about it I have only seen 2 928s in there ever and I drove one of them. The other was too expensive for my budget and overpriced anyway. It sat there for months. Salespeople always have tickler files so you should call them and ask if they know anyone who might be willing to sell their car. Between Sharkskin and I, most sharks around here are spotted sooner or later. I can count them all on the fingers of one hand.

Ron,

Too bad about Cal Motorsports. I tested a couple of 928s from there (91 S4/93 GTS)
a few years ago. Didn't buy them, but it was a good experience.

I stopped in to California Motorsports today and spoke to Sander Byers, a salesman there. He said 928s are rare and even rarer if in good condition. I would not count on one from them in the near future. He did have an excellent 993 Cabriolet in there (drool, drool) for $39,000. Check out their website :

That one would look darn good in my garage (next to the 928):

I'd prefer a coupe, though. With 6-speed manual transmission like this one.

Yes, After finding out from Steve how much he hates the blind spots, and seeing a white coupe up the street a couple weeks ago... I have to agree. Cal Motorsports had a brown 82-ish car there a few months back. When I stopped and talked to the guy he didn't have any sharks, but he eyeballed mine a bit and was pleasant to talk to.

I like the 993 blue cab. It would be perfect to cruise down to Monterey Yacht harbor to park next to my yacht dock. After the afternoon of sailing I could drive it out to the airport and jump in my Lear jet and fly to Mexico or Whistler for the weekend. I think I'll go buy the thing.
