Well Keith Widom and I did the mounts today and I must say a very intimidating job with a bark much worse then it's bite. For the most part that is. We pretty much followed Pirtle's instructions BUT when it comes time to replace the bolts in the upper potion of the xmember ( they act as pins) first replace the 6 xmember bolts (3 each side) then let the engine down. Then put your jack under the xmemeber and jack up and the pin holes come real close. Then you should have little problems replacing the bolts. Keith gets all credit for that one. Took 45 mins about until Keith thunk it up. THe whole job 4.5 to 5.5 hrs. Definitely a little faster should I do it again.
I had purchased a lift a few weeks ago. Man o' man was it terrific. We had buku room under the car for creepers, turning, ****s and giggles.

Very nice Joe. Can't go wrong with Keith as a co-pilot..that boys' got a mess-a tricks up his sleeve. I spent today wrapping up the engine install on the 88. Wanna see the pics? Check out my last post...

Hey Oscar, I've been following your install. Way to impressive man. Can't wait to hook up to see it all done. Thanks a lot. Keith really saved the day for me.

That is a good tip. I, too, had trouble with that pin. Got it after a while, but not as elegantly as Keith's solution. Good job!

Good job Joe & Keith! Nice lift.
Agreed that the X-member top horizontal bolts are a PITA - I had inserted a 10-12" tapered drift pin to line them up (with the motor still suspended) - then tapped the pin out using the bolt from the correct side. Tapping may require a BFH!

Yea Bill, when I had the brace off for the oil pan on the GTS, putting it back in wasn't that big of a deal. As for Joes car, it was pretty easy to remove and replace the X member, but aligning those dang holes were giving us a problem. Rather than lay there on the creeper and force think it out, I got up and took a little break while Joe tried to get his side done. After a short breath of fresh air, it hit me. I told Joe, "Hey, what if we try it this way?" A few miunutes later we were tightening up those bolts.
As I always say...sometimes you just have to be smater than it!
The whole job went rather quickly as Joe and I weren't out to set any records. It certainly is nice to have two sets of hands doing these kind of things and Joe's lift is sweet!

Just got back a little while ago from a store run/test drive. A very nice difference with much less vibration thru the whole curve but very noticable in the 2k rpm range. Fortunately most of my driving is in that range. Well worth the learning experience. to Keith for his help. Next project is installing the Ford 19# injectors when they get back next week along with some new plugs and my chips. Will update with new thread.
