That type of damage is typically the result of a difference of opinion at an intersection about WHO has a red light. After the accident the car was at a bodyshop (they removed the fenders) to determine the extent of the frame damage .....they concluded it was totalled. The driver of the GTS may have been an innocent victim you never know.

Yeah, Richard, it looks like a pretty good setup for a right turn circle track already.
Nicole, the only bad thing is that in its current L-shaped configuration it may take up both stalls in your garage while we work on getting it running again.

Anybody have a good front end? I've seen plenty of cars with front ends welded on. My cousin's IT-7 car got a new front end attached after his co-driver got pushed into the wall on the front straight at VIR. Last time I talked to him, he said it is better than before.

For a Track beast, you could put it on a jig, weld in some Moly Tubing for stiffness, connect the welded Moly tube frame to the inner cage, and it would be nearly ready for a plastic nose from AIR etc. It would be stiff as a brick. The glass would be tossed as well as the carpets etc.... Sell off the interior bits, get the engine spinning, and off to the track...
So, how much they want.... $500..? Sold...!

I'd have to outfit my garage with a lift and rack before we could tackle a such project. And I'd have to figure out a way to keep the homeowners association ***** away. Sooner or later they'd come after me.
I read today, that apparently only "emergency" repairs are allowed on the premises. Heinrich's car certeinly could be declared such (bought car, got stranded). But a complete rebuild would be harder to argue for.

Without putting it up on a frame machine and hanging some gauges it’s really hard to tell the true extent of the damage. However, from the pics it looks like it could be doable for someone looking to get in to a GTS as a long term driver or track car (salvage title).
If I was looking for another project 928, I’d be a player on it! I have bought and fixed worst, I made one Honda Acord out of two once (1 rearender, 1 frontender), that was hader than this one would be.
Jim I think you nailed this one spot on!

Damn bunch of sharks .... OK if someone buys the car I'll trade you a running '86 5spd with LSD for it as-is. Me? No way in hell I'd part that lovely thing out. No tracking either, that's what sunroofless '78's are made for. I'd restore her and drive her.
