Plan on spending more money on rear tires when you supercharge your shark...........
When you get everything fixed on your shark that needs fixing, plan on spending more money on things that don't need fixing.
After you have spend a bunch of money on things that don't need fixing on your shark, plan on spending a bunch of money on things that need fixing on your shark......

It's easier to put the front suspension back on in three pieces instead of one piece at a time.
*Cross member with (long)rack and Mounts attached
* Left and Right assemblies of A arms, Balljoint, Shock, hub, rotor, and caliper.
1) Pull the engine for most things related to it. In the end its easier.
2) Buy a Spare LH if you travel far often.
3) Grounding points are very important on early cars
4) Know where your mechanic lives - possibly know his wife and children.
5) The pilot bearing is a very weak animal.
6) Summit racing has entire 18 channel harnesses and fuse blocks for 290.00 dollars. Remember this when you look at your old bugger's wiring harness.

If you're re-attaching your rearview mirror (or attaching a radar detector, etc), be very careful to not push too hard on the inside of the windshield glass. 928 windshields have quite a reputation for breaking easily from inside-out pressure.

Note position of feet before releasing floor jack.
The rear muffler weighs enough that your head should not be beneath it when you remove it to install your RMB.
After adding a quart of oil always double check the filler cap.
The large o-ring goes on the side of the thermostat facing the front of the car.
Did you re-tighten the power steering fluid reservoir clamp after that belt tension or belt job?
Heat and PB Blaster is better than a longer wrench.
Wally's never wrong.

Bigs,
One thing I've learned in Idaho is that when the fish spawn, the bears grab the red ones before the sluggards of other colors. I've now had patrol cars stop, turn around and follow the 928 on THREE different occasions and I wasn't doing anything remotely wrong! (Well...maybe some evil grinning). Those guys must be able to read minds! Heinrich is right about the Valentine. It's a handy reminder to help make sure you're not weaving or pressing on your gas pedal too much while picking your nose or something akin to that.
Carry extra relays with you....extra belts....and tools that will let you into the passenger side cam belt cover...and one of those cheap belt tension testers. And a raincoat for your wife so she can hold the flashlight.
Another tip...be careful in Provo Canyon....lot of crazies travel along there. But if you're in the Seattle area...there are some really nice twisty roads to test your gearing and steering rack. If you get off the main goat trails in Idaho, use mudder tires.

"Arrest Me Red" = the most cars to receive citations are this color.
On the other hand, it is ironically one of the safest being so visible and stimulating, while black is recessive and appears to be farther away than it is.
White appears to be closer than it is.

non-Porsche related : "Don't eat yellow snow..."
Porsche related: If you 'lose' a washer near your carbs or intakes (not necessarily on a 928), do NOT assume that it couldn't possibly go down the intake and then try to start the car... trust me on this
