Default Subwoofer that fits under seat

Has anyone tried one of those Clarion SRV303 subwoofers that supposedly fits under a front seat?

Does anyone know if it'll fit under a 928 seat? I haven't had the seat out so I don't know how much room there is.

BTW, you can find them for about $100 less than Crutchfield charges.

Have been under the passenger seat recently and I would bet $ it wouldn't fit. I might lose but I don't think so.
Not sure if that is scientific enough for you

I've got one. Barely fits. But it does fit (no power on my pass seat.) Bass is marginal, but better than I had before. I'm now tempted to buy the amp that fit where the stock one was and drive a bazooka tube. Depends on if I have a couple hundred $$ burning a hole in my pocket or not when I get there. For now, I'm happy with it.

That would certainly make a difference...

Duel 12" PPI's in the hatch works well.

It definitely will NOT fit under my 89 power seats unless you keep them all the way up. I bought the same sub on eBay, not realizing how big it really is. Also, this sub is overly boomy and not well-balanced for good thumping sub sound. The sub in the Subara WRX or Imprezza is smaller and should fit. I have heard it in WRX's and it sounds good. Also available on eBay. Haven't bought one yet.

Since I have power seats (d&p) no way can I get a sub under there.
Since I don't want a big box taking up 1/2 of my hatch area, and I'm not ready to give up my spare, I opted for the self-powered Kenwood "WOOX". It's pretty flexible with a wired control for bass adjustment.
I fit mine behind my passenger seat. I can remove it/reinstall it within 5 minutes. It's pretty indiscreet, and the pass. seat can go back almost the whole way.Since it's self-powered, it's an easy hookup & for it's size, it sounds great. (& Legless midgets can sit back there w/no problem.)

I'm having a friend glass in my spare tire well to hold a 10" sub. With the carpet down you'll never see it. The fiberglass tubb will pull right out if needed - he's done this many times before - nothing is damaged in the process.

After thinking real hard about having a 50 pound wood box not screwed down in the hatch when I slam on the brake's (or god forbid hit something) I began working on plan B.

Thats probably one of the best ideas I've heard for bass storage. Saw a show on speakers built into drywall and you can't see them. This would be perfect for bass and hidden under the carpet..

HP is that some plexiglass with a 10 in in the center?

Pics?

At least one member here has done what HP is talking about. Sterling? I think. It's the member with the variocam 968 heads is his S4 or GT. It's fiberglass, not plexiglass.

HP, in the meantime, why don't you strap it to the tiedown loops under the toolkit?

Red - my project is in the measuring and design phase right now. What we are doing is making fiberglass tub that fills the entire hole where the spare goes (I don't run a spare). What Sterling did is awesome - but I'm going to hide the amp down with the enclosure.

I should be seeing my friend in the next week or so - I'll take a picture of his setup as a visual. He's done his last 4 cars like this, works great. I bascially want a setup that for a track event, I pull the enclosure, have high current disconnects for the amp, load up the tools and hit the track.

I've got the 8" Bazooka self-amplified subwoofer. It works well enough for me since I'm not the type to rattle my neighbors' windows.

Here's a picture from Porsches to Pinckney. You can see the subwoofer is strapped to the driver's side rear seat. All wiring is neatly hidden, and no holes were made anywhere, so the car can easily be returned to stock form in 30 seconds.

Sterling
So you kept your spare tire and raised the floor only about 1.5" or so! Not bad. Looks clean too, how does it sound?

Big Dave
So all you did is run power cables and RCA cables to the tube? Thats not too much work & can be quickly removed for more room!
