Default head queston

I'm picking up Eric's 82US, I know it needs a head gasket (got em)
I'm wondering, I have a set of freshly rebuilt 79 euro heads, and a set of 78 euro cams.. is this a straight swap? any issues I need to be aware of?

TIA
trying to get my act together before it gets here

Straight swap. Different cam keys as you know. Make sure you get double springs - IMO, as Porsche went from Single to Dual.

Course, if the head is JUSt rebuilt, you may wish not to take it apart again.

I don't want to take them apart, or change the cam keys...

I don't think there's much difference in the cam profiles until the 'S' engine.

All year cam gears (and gear hubs) fit on either Woodruff or parallel keys, and all camshafts.

78-79 US cams are better than 80-82 US. I have a set of '79s to go into my '81... someday.

As Porken explains, YOU SHOULD put the 78/79 cams on the euro heads - I think there should be a good flowing head comming out of that combination - better in relation to the 82 heads at least.

My answer is going to be "Pretty much".

EGR stuff may change, or not.
