Dave,

I'll PM you with my PayPal and street address. Of course if someone else pays first for the new one...

I have been running my original set for 8 mo's and about 8K miles, with 10 or so 150MPH dyno runs and plenty of 100+...uh...not dyno runs.

I've convinced 'honey bunny' that I'm doing this for the product delevopment experience, since I'm making about $2/hr in labor. So I really can't warehouse them. For myself, I consider it a 928 community service, because I think it should have come this way from the factory, and there's no other alternative!

Of course, if you don't find them useful, I'll buy 'em back! (But keep the manual as our free gift.)

Guys - these things are great. Its a very good idea FIRST of all to switch over to the HTD of the 32V cogs ANYWAY - and this only gives you MORE incentive. The cam timing - even if its just to set them correctly - is very important.

Ken sent me a set after I paid him and it was very prompt. The boxing is even cool, and they are assembled correctly so I can visualize before I even download his well-done PDF for directions. If the box was packed really well - you can only imagine the work that went into making these things work well as well.

Yes, I did pay for mine, and yesm, I do think you should buy Ken's stuff. He is also making a sunroof for my 89 - all the while dealing with what I can only gather is a very high maintenance girlfriend of some sort. ;0

And to help everyone along, Pelicanparts.com seems to have a great deal on oil cogs - 50 or so dollars instead of the normal higher price, IIRC. And 928intl does occassionally have HTD oil and crank cogs - though I WAS just up there on Tuesday buying the last set they had- at least thats what Tom said.

Brendan,

Thanks for the kind words. Truth be told, my girlfriend suggested that I spend time on decent packaging.
...

Thanks Dave!

If anyone calls, I'm at the bar!

Ken,

Have you considered selling the pointers to the 32 valve guys. It is a PITA to adjust valve timing on the 32 valve engines. And, if you want to experiment with different timings you have to pull the cam covers to retime them. Your pointers would eliminate removing the covers and setting up the dial indicator. I don't know if your pointers would work on the 32 valves, but the concept would be the same. If you don't have the development resources to experiment with the 32 valve engines, I could assist you. I have been wanting to try different timings on my GT anyway. If you don't want to get involved with the 32 valve engines, let me know and I will develop on my own.

Earl Gillstrom,

I've thought about it. I think the pointers would have to be 'flatter' than what I'm making as there is less clearance between the gear and the housing, but that's all.

I had considered a laser cut version, with + - degree marks, but decided the volume didn't warrant the effort for the 16V conversion only. This would work for both 32V and 16V conversions.

I have the software and have a laser guy to get it done if there were enough 32V people with cash in hand!

Then I'd have to buy a 32V car, for testing purposes, of course, right?
...

Brendan,

For example, the 'get off the couch' experience.

Brendan, I hope you didn't just buy my oil cog! <quickly emailing order to Jim to avoid losing other parts due to procrastination>

Ken, PM inbound. I'm really looking forward to installing these.

Funny you posted this.

I'm doing the TB on my 83 5 speed right now. I got the front end off and the gears are really shiny so they need to be replaced. I'll need 2 cam gears and a oil gear, I'm hoping to get the used gears, where is the best place to get them from?

I haven't done this job ever so I'm alittle confused on Porkens tool.

Do I need it to do the job of replacing the gears?
I can see how it might help move or align them. But I'm interested in a set. I'm going to have to make something to get the oil gear off so I appreciate the engineering Porkens done.

Any video or gif animation of how it works?

If you are thinking about making a 32v kit, count me in as well. I need to properly index my cams after replacing all the gears during my TB job, and it would be nice to have an easy way to change the setting to try and tune the car for those last few HP/TQ hiding in that engine.

I still have my old worn gears if you need something to "experiment" on. If you need them, let me know, and I will ship them to you.

Brendan, I called about the parts last week. I was just worried since you said you got the last ones. Jim didn't say anything about being out of stock in his email back to me, so I guess I'm okay.

My cam gears and oil gear have a 1/16" step in them where the belt was running which was 1/16-1/8" off the back of the cam gears. I'll have to take some pictures when I pull them out. I'm amazed the belt is in nearly perfect condition after looking at what it was riding on, also the crank gear is nearly perfect and not shiny at all. I'm going to have to figure out how the belt was tracking that far off on top, but not on the bottom.

Red UFO,

The pointers and hubs are for installing 32V gears, and adjusting the valve timing if desired.

See the manual for more details (16V32VGearSetup.pdf 354KB).

I used a gear puller to get my oil pump gear off. I put 90W gear oil on everything before I reinstalled all the gears, and since then I've been able to pull the gears off by hand.
...

Jim R.

Thanks for the offer!

I have all the data I need to make one, I have only to sit down, draft it, and send it off to the laser cutter guy.

Trouble is, I don't have a 32V car, so I have little compulsion to do so, since I'm a spiteful jealous fellow.

If there is a real 'group buy' 32V pointer frenzy, then I would need some deposits to cover my... assets. (And not suffer the wrath of 'honey bunny'. )
