For screaming power cheap you cant beat a 350 Chevy. Gees you can build a 4 bolt main pink rods 202 heads bolt on a couple of turbos and make over 900 hp.

I considered it at one point but I never could talk myself into the swap. Also carburetors are just too inefficient, IMO unless they are Weber's. Those I love bad boys. Of course you can spend mucho $ tuning them. FI is still the best way to go.

Now one thing that is interesting to me is the LS1 engine. Aluminum, small package, but I think I still prefer the Porsche V8 engine overall.

If you really like ***** to the wall performance check out the guy in Miami on the 951 forum that installed a ls1 motor in his 951 with a 968 6 speed transaxle. Thats sounds awfully sweet to me.

While EFI is simpler in theory, carbs are much, much simpler in the real world.

If you slap a Edelbrock Performer carb on a car, once it's set up, it's set up. You'll never have to mess with it again.

No computer, no cold idle valves, no solenoids, no injectors, no high dollar in tank fuel pumps, none of that.

The Renegade Hybrid boys say the LS1/2/6 won't fit in a 928 due to the front crossmember. But I'm wondering if the new LS7 with it's much smaller dry sump might fit.

A brand new 750cfm edelbrock is under $300.00. Add a $60 dollar hi flow mechanical fuel pump(maybe an adj regulator if you want one)....and that's your entire fuel system.

Want to add the air flow to support 1000hp? No problem, just buy a $550.00 1000cfm Holley dominator.

How much would it cost to modify the fuel system on a 928 to support 1000cfm of N/A flow? LOL....a hell of a lot more than $550.00 bucks.

Carbs still have their strong suits, and entry price is first and foremost among them.

SMT, did it look like the attached? If so it's an LT-1 (an older Corvette and Camaro engine). The LT-1 has an iron block, not the aluminum of the newer LS engines.
