I am not sure where all of the above comes from. I think the 89 auto configuration ia similar to my 91 setup. My 91 has a 2.53 rear end, 4th is 1:1 and 3rd is 1.44:1. So final drive ratio is fourth is 2.53 and in third is 3.64. I think the 89 in question would be similar.
My 91 manual clearly states a top speed of 165 for the auto. I have had mine to 150 and had plenty left to go.
Where your number of 3.2:1 for final ratio comes from I don't know. Also using your tire size and speed calculations puts a 2.53 rear end S4 top speed at 188 in fourth (assuming no drag) and 133 in 3rd.

I was clearly speaking of MANUAL 5 speed transmission with the 2.2:1 final drive, as well as my reference to the 3.2:1 total ratio for 4th gear , also in the manual 5 speed.
