Default *** Detroit Beer Night TONIGHT *** (12-09-04)

It's that time of the month, again. Well... you know what I mean.

This Thursday, the local 928 owners will be having our monthly 928 get together here in the Detroit area - others are always welcome.

Location is the same as always @ the Four Green Fields Pub in the strip mall on the SW corner of 13 Mile & Woodward (right next to the Secretary of State's office) in Royal Oak, MI. There doesn't appear to be any salt on the roads (washed off) as of today... tomorrow? That another question. Hopefully a few people will bring their sharks (i hope to bring mine with the new wheels

Things usually start around 6:30 and go until whenever.

Remember we have these get togethers on the second Thursday of every month, so come on by.

I will also be cross posting on the other boards too. Hope to see you there.

Beat me to it again!

BTW: Thanks to Dennis, I've now got an engine hoist in place. That big ole' 5.0 is coming out soon! I think I'm obligated to post the traditional owner-sitting-in-the-engine-bay pic once it's out.

If anyone wants to be present when the engine is taken out, let me know...spectators and assistants are welcome, but I don't have a scheduled date yet. With luck, it could be as early as this coming weekend.

a little OT, but do your Porsches ever get vandalized in Detroit cuz of the American car heritage? I got accepted to Kettering in Flint, but chose not to with my Porsche's saftey as one of the reasons....

I had mine in downtown Detroit every weekday for since 2001 with no problems. If anything, it got better treatment than "regular" cars. The only times I was nervous was when it was parked anywhere near a mall or movie theater. Still, never a problem. We've had a Nissan Maxima and Ford Probe broken into, but no one's bothered the Porsche.

I think those days are mostly gone (around Flint at least). However, if you parked your p-car or any other status car in some of 'da hoods around Detroit... well let's just say that more than likely, someone will choose to pimp your ride... and not in a good way. I tend to stay away from those areas, or at a minimum, drive really really fast - something P-cars are good at.

That's in downtown Detroit. If you're willing to drive 20 minutes north....join us! I-75 north to I-696 west. Exit at Woodward Avenue and take it north for 2.5 miles.

I'll be bringing the newest addition to my 928 obsessiver/compulsive disorder: I finally managed to get a 1/16th scale R/C 928.

Dennis also mentioned that he may be taking a field trip over to let people see his Garage-Mahal...carpeted, heated, and inhabited by a fountain and banana tree. He's less than a mile from the bar.

Hope to see everyone there.

Well it sure would be great if I can finally make it to one of these get-togethers....
Cool thing is I won't have to drive far as I'm now living in Royal Oak. My first day at my new job is Thursday so I plan to be there... at my new job and the pub too. If I don't make it to see you guys, the first day got the best of me. Doubt it. Should go smooth.
I can't bring Chewy as she's still parked in Mt Pleasant. Safe in storage 'til this weekend.

Good for you. Hope this will make your Christmas a bit more enjoyable. I know my new job is making mine much more enjoyable... 'cause Santa came early for me. Stay tuned. New thread to follow later today.... and you'll be able to see tomorrow night too.
