Fong - see you next year.

Adam - at lunch I spoke to the owner. You're right, it's not a stock NSX. It has a prototype high-volume Comptech supercharger and cylinder heads from the old IMSA Camel Lights Comptech Acura racing car. He said 400+ rwhp and that seems conservative to me. Normally I have to lift to help cars get by, but with that NSX, I kept it floored in 3rd and he just absolutely ripped past.

Dennis: Reg Pridmore demonstrated that hugging the inner curb and to hell with apexes can be very fast (3 AMA superbike championships in his 1st 4 years), so I understand your experimentation with the line. Your 2:07 supports that. I agree the wider entry to #2 would be "classic", so I mentioned it as you seemed to be doing it unconventionally. Hope the tranny goes together quickly.

Dennis
Ya I thought that NSX was a little "special", but I'm guessing your putting down over 300whp with your setup? I think I've seen your car at DEVEK when I bought mine! I remember the dark car with huge tires!

Hey Dennis - I lurk on many of the different forums and am always interested to see/hear/read about others' experiences at these track days. We all have our little "groups" that we hang out with at the track days - so it's cool to hear the perspective from different groups at the same event. Unfortunately, I'm not quite fast enough to run with your pack at the front of the Advanced group. It brings a tear to my eye to see you guys disappear into the distance as soon as we roll off out of the hot pits. I did get down to running 2:09 on Saturday - so you didn't disappear THAT fast, but still that few seconds a lap keeps me from playing with the big dogs.

Kip not only has an amazing car in that NSX, but he is also a phenomenal driver. I rode with him at Sears last year, and I'm sure he's only improved since then.

Cheers,

Dean

I wonder what that NSX could rip off as far as times!

Also, as far as turn 2, you really need to go deep . run up to it in 3rd gear redlinebefore you brake, you will get there quicker, and carry more speed around it. seen WAY too many guys go narrow, and none of them get around very fast if they do. (well, maybe stefanowitz, as he doesnt need a "line" in that 750hp aero downforce 911 racer!)

I did click off a 2:10 with my ole '79 with the big hoosiers. bone stock,no LSD, with a cat too and those tiny brakes! (just gutted to 2900lbs or so). Its really a momentum track, more than most know.

Brian - yep that was probably my car. When the previous owner put the headers & exhaust on the car, the Dynojet said 289 rwhp SAE. It think it's a little softer now because I've been losing a couple mph at the end of straights. The car does have 140k of hard miles on it . . .

Dean - 2:09, that's a great time. If I recall correctly, your car is basically stock right? Good driving.

Mark - The NSX was on Yoko slicks and was hand timed by someone at 1:58! As Dean notes, the driver definitely has skills. I ran with him at Sears before and I remember clearly him blowing by me into the hairpin at 7, then lighting the fuse at the exit and rocketing off into the distance through the esses. It's a beautiful thing to see a blisteringly fast car driven well.
