It's almost winter here in the Mid-Atlantic. Haven't' driven the shark since last Sunday due to rain. Today is nice and sunny, but cold.
I bought some new jack stands, the ratchet type with locking pins and a flat footprint for the garage floor. But I wanted something to slip over the saddle to better fit the jack pad of the 928.
I wanted something that could be easily removed from the jackstand, yet provide much more security than with the stock jack stand and saddle arrangement.
So I took the jack stands and a floor jack insert I bought from Pelican Parts that fits the 928 (and other later model Porsche's) to a local welding shop. Two weeks and $136 later (that's $34 per jack stand, I had four made), I have the following solution.
Later this afternoon, the car goes up on the jackstands (more pics to follow later). This should provide me with the security I wanted so that I won't think the car will come crashing down upon me. I should get about 24 inches of clearance under the car.

When you floor jack from one side with a jackstand already installed on the other side, I don't think your jack adapter will sit flat with the jacking point. Same with the jack adapter your showing.
Or will it?
I have similar jackstands in 4 and 6 ton capacity, and my front lifting points now conform to the jackstands. So it's a little late for that idea on my car.
