The latest ruling from SCCA for World Challenge.
“Mark,
It was good to have you at the West coast races. However, for 2005 we have revised the eligibility rules somewhat and the Porsche 928 will no longer be eligible to compete within the World Challenge series. We do hope that you choose to come back with another car, perhaps a GT-3 or 996 TT.
Best Regards,

Once again I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to compete in World Challenge. I can’t believe it’s been 6 seasons and 18 races. I hope there is still a place for me in 2005,
Sincerely

The rules state that the car has to be no more than 5 years old. They did make an exception for a while with some modification to that rule stating that you could only do a partial season with an approved older car. It would not surprise me that someone behind me may have complained. In my last race with 1 lap to go I was brought in because of a loose hood pin on one side. At that time there was a Cadillac behind me. humm

You MUST contest it. How about some help from the PCA Rep, Mr Venninger ... Porsche Club of America surely have some pull here ... and I'll sign a petition as a Porsche Club member if asked.
DO NOT LET THIS LIE MARK.

It seems that since they have got some more of the big guns interested it's "Hasta la vista baby." It is sad indeed. I understand that they have been making exceptions for a few years now but, it's not like you haven't been more than competitive. If a groundswell of support will help, let us know.

Lets see, take a Corvette that is running at the front of GTS in LeMans - "de-tune" the motor and drop a Caddy body on it. I guess after spending a few $million$ on that project, being out run by a modified road car would be very embarrassing.
I can't wait to see what happens to the ALMS and the SCCA series when GM pulls the plug. Ford dropping out of almost every aspect of racing (except NASCAR) is a sign of things to come.
When that happens, all of the little guys that were thrown out or quit due to the BS will be running in a different series’. Give it a few years and some bean-counter at GM will convince the board that Corvette's will sell without the GTS program. Even BMW wasn't big enough to stay in the ALMS.
Mark - What are the rules of Grand-Am? I am normally against anything the France family is involved with, but many teams seam to be looking in that direction.
