Tony, don't just use silicone when you put that thing back together. You must use a special type.....call Mark A and get it from him. He found out the hard way....it will leak and you will be checking the tire for leaks for months.

Hey Rob
I only took my old wheel apart since it is toast anyway and i wanted to see how it was built. The bolt holes dont penetrate the inside of the rim. In other words, I could remove a bolt and no air would escape from an inflated tire....probably an easier way to explain it.
I could even remove the whole center spoke portion with a fully inflated tire on the rim! Like i said, this would be SUCH and easy fix if the parts were available.

The wheel im getting fromm Chris is a complete one

No problem on the replacement wheel Tony. I'm glad that I "just happened" to have what you needed.

PAY ATTENTION FOLKS: THIS IS WHY WE'RE ALL HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT, I repeat, NOT for pissing all over each other. We should all be here to have fun, help with parts, and help with fix-it info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the WAY O/T rant, but I've been a little peeved lately, and I couldn't think of a more appropriate situation of helping out another 928 Rennlist brother/sister, than this.

Any rate, I'm very glad I could help. And if anyone happens to prang a rear 18 X 10" Cup 2, I have a spare one of those also.

Tony, I'm going to "attempt" to do a search on the clock. DR posted a thank you thread, and included pics of the clock. It looks awesome mounted on the sloped ceiling of his shop at 928 Specialists.

Tony, et al, I found the thread that has a couple of 18" Riva clock pics, but I have no idea how to post a link to that thread. If someone wants to help out, the thread is "SITM 2004 Ramblings". When I get home, I'll see if I can't start a new thread with some close up pics of the clock. I plan to make at least 3 more with Riva and Cup 2 18" wheels.

Chris I agree with your view and sentiment - and a position supported by action: a heart warming one at that ...

Another (newer) member recently voiced somewhat similar views in the now infamous "WTF" post - and took an unnecesary amount of flak IMHO.

Anyway, there's nothing like demonstrating the point!

Ya know Garth and Chris, I think you guys are way off base. People disagree and sometimes it happens on rennlist. Occassionally valuable information is gathered from points that are simply not viewed the same way by different people.

Since I have been a part of Rennlist there have been some classic disagreements, I think the best was "The Venturi" discussion (today known as the "V" word discussion). Lots of different opinions and science revealed itself in that spat and from it also came a couple of different exhasut designs and ideas for the 928. In the end of it all we are still friends here that come to share common interests and I have had a few of my own here OVER THE YEARS (Right Porken and Heinrich?) and I am still great frinds with each person I may have ever disagreed with here.

Although rennlist policy may be slightly anemic in this area I believe we should not treat adults here as children by discouraging someone from making their point. If you are not interested in the dialouge find another thread. Nobody forces you or anyone to review or umpire a heated disagreement between two or more poeple.

Heck, I may be the only person here on this list that believes this but I am entitled to my opinion. Frankly some of the spats are entertaining and bring me back to the list to check status and i may drop in someplace else as I am doing that. God, I hate boring!

DoubleNutz, you are correct on the point of disagreements. They can be very informative, and to an extent, fun and entertaining. I was mainly refering to the "bashing" of people and the various products that are for sale or in the pipeline. Some of these threads have gone WAY beyond differing views on venturis or contact patches. They have gotten off topic to the point of being "personal" attacks. I have been a paid Rennlist member for 5 years now, and the main reasons I'm here is for the fellowship, the learning, the free flow of ideas or helpful info, and for the sheer fun of it. I don't think that any of us are here to be bashed or personally attacked. Just my view point.

Yes Chris you and I and a few others go back a long ways together here (before these new rennlist graphics) . Dang, the "contact patch" discussion I forget all about that one...That was great!

Perhaps, I mis-read your intent within your post...please accept my apologies! I do agree that there is no place for "personal attacks" here. That stuff belongs on The Jerry Springer Board or if ya live close enough,,, take it to the persons front yard ( just remeber to invite me so that I can bring a bucket of Popcorn, Fried Chicken and Beer so I can watch!).

Its not what you disagree on its HOW you go about it and HOW you carry yourself through the discussion..
Thats the part that gets ugly.!

Different views, ideas and approaches are how things move fwd. At no other time in the past has there been so many HP options for the 928...and...at no other time has there been so much headbanging, $hit slinging, either among some list members.

Like i said..IMHO..its HOW it is done. Constructive disagreements are fine, but the personal attacks and the nit picky stupid stuff is childish.

No doubt Tone, you are a big time Veteran here too. You've been through a few campaigns on this list but ya always come away without a purple heart. Now me,,, I've been "shot-up" a couple of times...got plenty of rennlist purple on my chest! That Nicole- damn she's tough, she kicked my azz with class regularly!!!

Funny that you mention it... I went to look at a low milage 1988S4 in Diamond Blue Metallic two days ago and I would have bought it but someone beat me to it at NorthWest Investment cars. It was a positively beautiful car in concours condition. I thought it was Heinrich's car for a second except the interior was a cream white (from what I recall Heinrich's is black).

The Predator is being further restored in California by a guy who purchased it from the chick that brought it and was slowly destroying the car again.

I just ordered a new 997S and I am thinking about canking that order due to all the issues that are popping up on the '05 model so far. I may just pick-up a "05 996 C4S instead. I was in the process of ditching Porsche altogether a few months ago and I was chasing a 360Modena for a while. Then Heinrich turned me around over the summer. He mentioned how much I liked to drive my cars and a 360 Modena is not a daily drive type of car...he was right. So I waited for the new 997S release.

I am also into 16 year old kid car buying age now and he wants a cheap Boxster so I am going to find an under 20K car for him and the wife wants to upgrade the Rover to the LR3 or a Cayenne and ditch the MercBz so our household is going through a complete automobile overhaul. However, there maybe room for a 928 in it this year.

I cannot think of any active/heated/confrontational debate that even remotely stays on topic bering incapable of producing positive results! When the thread of a credible subject is lost - or deferred, and the dialogue falls into the "Yea, well your mom wears army boots ...." personal vein - I would fail to see how benificial that may be to anyone, or to any subject.

"......Although rennlist policy may be slightly anemic in this area I believe we should not treat adults here as children by discouraging someone from making their point. It is always tough to have it both ways! Above you state " ...by discouraging someone from making their point.... " Let's see ... Chris made a point, and I happened to agree: are you discouraging that?? Furthermore, where's the heat in that? I thought this was a most even-tempered, innocous thread - I'll have to go back and see what was missed.

"Heck, I may be the only person here on this list that believes this but I am entitled to my opinion. Frankly some of the spats are entertaining and bring me back to the list to check status and i may drop in someplace else as I am doing that. God, I hate boring!

Agreed that a good spat is usually entertaining - and with just enough self dicipline to retain the subject - and not become entirely personal and/ or degrading - great!
As off base as it may be, it's only another point of view - attached to a very mild thread: in the meantime, I'll look for where the umpiring came in ....
