Default Tire size issue

I seem to have run into an issue regarding tire sizes.

I can't find 225/40/17s for the front of my shark. I'm wearing a 235/45 up front and hate it. I did however, find 215/40/17s on Tirerack.com The factory uses a 225/50/16 tire up front for its 16" rims. If I drop down from a 225 width to a 215, will their be any handling issues?

I thought there were lots of 225/45R17s out there! That would be a preferred size, unless you have an oddball wheel size: what is the width and ET? and what is the issue with the 235s ?

235's for some reason have a tendency to rub during hard cornering. Someone reccommended that I look for 225s, hence my search. I was looking initially for 225/40/17s but I think I'm just gonna stick with 225/45/17s then.

225x45 for 17s and 225 40s for 18s. stay with the 235s if you can , and just roll the fender carefully with a baseball bat (wood) they wont rub then! more rubber the better . 235x 45s were great when I used them.

I track mine on 235's and they don't rub. What brand tires do you have and what offset on the front wheels ?

I have 235x45 on mine and they rubbed. after the change to eibachs and raising a tad they don't. My et is 51 which isn't to good for the front. That was my main issue. Proper et and height shood not be a problem with 235's. See if you can correct before you change.

it also depends on camber too. (and of course what rims we are talking about)
51 was offset? if so, its near my spec , and yes, it will rub slightly if not cambered about 1.3 degrees and the inner edge rolled . 50.8 also corresponds to my 82mm offset for the 9.5" front rims. both will be 1.5" from edge of the fender to the mounting surface. (ie 50.8mm backspace on 7" rim or 82mm on a 9.5" rim) this is why the 55mm offset 7.5 front rim works so well.
