Default idle control valve

Does anyone know the bosch part # for the idle control valve/stabilizer on a 1986 928s? I have heard that other models (BMW) share the part, anyone know which other cars use the same part? Thanks, Rick

BMW - 5 (E34) - M5 3.6

So all of these models use the same unit? The E24, E30 E34 E32 designation doesn't matter? Thanks, Rick

0 280 140 524 was replaced with 0 280 140 574.

I don't know what the actual difference is, just that it fits a bunch of BMW's, but not our cars.

Yes, all these models use the same unit according to the data.

Why, Rick?

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but the 0 280 140 509 fits your '86, and the later cars take the 0 280 140 515. The 515 is specified for the 928 only, nothing else. (except possibly the ROLLS-ROYCE, as it is listed as part number UE 71604, but is not in the vehicle interchange).

And, errr... a european bus: MAN part number 51 13109 0051

My interest is in the fact that I used to have a fast idle and replaced the idle stabilizer with a used unit and it worked fine for about a year. Now, upon startup it starts, then almost dies, then revs for an instant like you blipped the throttle, then settles down fine. I thought that I might need another idle stabilizer and there are tons of used avail. cheap for the BMW's. I just didn't know what would interchange. Thanks. Maybe that's not even my problem.

Hi dpower$:
Try a battery disconnect reset. This may help the idle stabiliser system adapt.

Or get it on a diagnostic tester which will reset the idle.
