clicking noise from fuse panel??
What is the "faint" clicking sound that comes from my fuse/relay box. it seems to change as my speed changes. I only here it at fairly slow speeds and as I increase speed the clicking does as well?
Thanks for any ideas!

Are you guys shure it's not one of the vacuum operated flaps? If it's speed related, the pressure might change with engine speed, and a small leak might make the flap flip flop whenever the pressure falls under a certain amount.

Re purpose of the counter. I believe was Porsche's overengineering dept, giving us an audio reminder. Extending that logic, I guess they think you should replace the sensor every 60K.

Thanks, SteveG. I recently replaced my O2 sensor. Must have run the original for 120k and never heard any clicking. Should I reset or disconnect it, or just leave well enough alone (my first choice)?

I would leave the counter alone unless you want the 60K reminder anyway. O2 sensors have a long life, IF it's been a clean life, by that I mean the system has functioned properly, no excessive rich running, etc. I have a Honda, very similar to Bosch system, in fact it is discussed in the Bosch manual, car and O2 sensor with 218K. Recently checked mileage = 36 highway. YMMV, but I haven't seen any discussion on our 928 sensors going bad w/o some other contributing factor.

Reviving an old thread.
I am hearing a clicking from the dash area on the passenger side sometimes. Seems to increase with the speed of the engine. My car has only 45k on it but this thread seems to indicate 60k for the O2 sensor. Unless it's different for 1991 like mine? Doesn't happen all the time but when it does you can hear it pretty easily.
Any other ideas?

The counter is only on the early cars with an oxygen sensor. At that time, no one actually knew the real-world life expectancy of an oxygen sensor. Most manufacturers just gave a mileage for replacement, but Porsche decided to give an indicator light at 60,000 miles. The sensor replacement light has NOTHING to do with the actual performance or need for replacement of the sensor - it just tells you that the car has been driven 60,000 miles since the counter was reset. There is no problem with just disconnecting the counter under the door sill cover.
No late-model 928 has the counter.
damonoresky, I would suggest that you open the Central Electric Panel, and determine if one of the relays in the panel is clicking. If so, let us know which one...
