Default Interior Lights stay on

I can't get the interior lights to go off when the doors are all closed.

Anyone got a solution? The car is a GTS

Many thanks,

Is your hatch closing all the way? The catch can become worn and maladjusted, causing it not to stay closed. If you can yank it open while it supposed to be locked, that could be the problem.

Each door should have a pin that gets push in when closed, just like your fridge. Open one door, and manually push the pin in.

Double-check the switch position of your interior lights. They can either be always on, always off, or on only when the door is open. It sounds silly, but I drove my car around for a couple weeks in the dark because "the dome don't work". One day, I accidentally kicked the switch on one of them, and BAM, there was light! The PPI for that car even says the lights didn't work - wrench didn't try turning them on, either

Second Jessas point on the hatch switch: Close the doors, open the hatch - and manually close the switch: otherwise, lower the tool kit panel, and disconnect the wiring harness to test.

Third Jessas comments on rear hatch... Wd-40 all door switches, Tighten all door switches with socket, and check rear hatch wiring and disconnect it. Remove the middle overhead light between visors and disconnect. Always grounds out. Probably rear hatch or overhead light.

I have to admit, I'm mighty curious how you managed to "kick" the interior lights...

Yes all 928s after 86 1/2 have an interior light relay ! that relay is supposed to keep the lights on for about 30 seconds after you close the doors sometimes it forgets how to count and 30 seconds turns into 30 minutes or forever....... The relay is 928 618 225 01 located bottom row far right next to the last one. The rear hatch switch is on the bottom of the lower lock receiver has a brown and a brown with stripe wires you can unplug the wires as a test. The door pin switch has single wire which when the switch is extended it grounds to complete the circuit. You can unscrew the pin switches and make sure the wire is still attached and when not touching a ground the lights "should be off" .

Steady there, Big Fella. I imagine she's refering to the ones in the lower door panels. Nothing kinky there. Usually.

I had the same problem. Like Jim said it was a faulty relay.

Many thanks to all of you for your help. I'll be taking a look at it over the weekend.
