Hello to all!

I am new to rennlist. I am new (hopefully soon) to the world of the 928. I have a friend in Dallas that "has it bad" and has recruited me into the fold.

Does anyone in the Detroit or Farmington Hills, MI area know of Automotive Techniques - Specifically, Jeff Jones (Porsche engineer)?

I have found a 1988 928 that I am interested in. Unfortunately, I live in Houston, Texas. This makes it difficult to look at the unit. I have asked and paid for a Pre purchase inspection. Mr. Jeff Jones will be performing the service.

I do not know this individual. I am relying on him heavily as I will not have even seen the car when I will hand over the money. His opinion of the vehicle will determine the sale.

Any feedback would be most appreciated.

I may know the car. Is it locksclock car? If so the last time I saw it it was pretty nice he was fairly regular in our 928 group for a while but divoce rears it ugly head.

Wow! I cannot say thanks enough for the response.

It is the car from Locksclock. John seems like a real good guy. He explained the whole situation he is in - terrible for him.

What is your opinion about the car? I am having the inspection done by Jeff. I believe it will pass with flying colors. Looks like John certainly took care of it.

I would love your impressions. As far as checking it out for me. I would be certainly in your debt and would be eager to help you out in anyway that I could ( I am still a newby at this).

What information do you need to check on the car?

Dennis probably knows where the car is since he knows the owner. I'll check with him tomorrow to see when he can go check it out (I assume he wants to go, too).

Call Jeff Jones ASAP. I've heard he's extremely busy.

I've looked at the car myself. I can't comment on the mechanical aspects, but the cosmetics are very nice! Interior is almost perfect. No dash cracks or pod cracks. Normal wear on driver seat bolster, nothing too obvious because the interior is grey. All in all, it is a VERY clean car. Personally, I'd buy it if I had the $$. I think it will make an awesome car for whoever buys it. As far as Jeff Jones, I hear he's one of the best for a PPI. You won't waste your money with him. On a more personal note, Lacksclock (John) is a very nice guy. He's helped me out a couple of times, and I'm sorry to see him fade from the 928 community over a divorce. You can trust him. I believe enough has been said about the car for me to make a decision. With a "thumbs up" from Jeff, I see myself becoming a proud owner. I feel even better with all the positive said about the current owner. I could not ask for a better situation.

I go out of town for one week, come back, and you're now a 928 owner!!! I knew when you had that $#@t eating grin driving my car the other week you had to have one.

Thanks to everyone here on the list for helping Rich out. I tried to give him as much info while I was out in meetings this week via phone and told him how great the people were here, and what an information source everyone is!
