For the VDO fluid level sensors? I'd like to get two... One to use and a spare...

Default Spring clips

Each time I had to remove a connector with a spring clip I was very careful using two sharp awls. The spring clip was then removed and never replaced again. In 16 years have never had one come loose including fuel injector connectors. Also from time to time (once every couple of years) I remove the connectors and put them back insuring good contact. Have never had one break. If the spring clips were left on this would be very time consuming and probably wouldn't be done.

Sorry if this offends the Porsche purists.

Not sure. They are very narrow spade connectors assembled perpendicular to one another in the connector. The one on the coolant reservoir is the easiest one to look at on a 928.
