To suggest by any means that I was rolling back odometers is not only insulting to me personally but is indicative of someone who has absolutley NO idea of what they are talking about!
I never even MENTIONED YOUR NAME for gawds sake, i just grabbed a quote in reference YOU made about "sabotageing" Mr. Wilhoit. (see below)

I have NOTHING against you whatsoever LOWMILER, personal or in a business sense. Chill dude.
However, having seen the full context of your deleted post before anyone else did, I now have a good indicator of your character.

Seanball,

Its 'Schmitt', not "Schmidt". I said it sounded like a Schmitt advert, and I stand by that statement. Lotsa hype, but at least Danny (or Charlie) usually have a car in front of them.

I don't see advocating people be educated consumers of an inherently risky commodity like high-line autos can be construed as insulting. I have nothing to hide about any of my cars, and when I go to sell any of them, none of my friends will find it rude of potential customers to run a Carfax on it, and maybe want to see and drive it, and throw it up on the rack before they plunk down their hard-earned cash for it. That's part of selling last time I checked.

Also, this thread was about Todd was selling a car, not himself. If questioning his motives for selling said car is a personal insult to him, then I guess I insulted the broker who told me to buy Enron when I asked "why are you selling this company with few marketable products and so much hype, so hard?".

FWIW- I was "fresh out of high school" 20 years ago and I say nothing here that I wouldn't say anywhere.

BTW- For those who have never seen an auto-dealer sales class, here's one of the basic lessons: When customers ask uncomfortable questions, hypothetically say, the safety record the Ford Pinto, you as the salesman gloss and shuffle - gloss over the question and shuffle off to the cup holders. If they keep asking, then act hurt and feign personal insult that anyone would even ask. Reassure- "My mom drives one, and I've sold 10 this month. Would I do that if it wasn't safe?" Then, if they're really persistent, acknowledge the truth just a bit and minimize the problem to "just a few wacky people who didn't have the good sense to avoid getting hit from behind by a semi that you, my friend, obviously have..."

Todd,

I do not recall anybody here ever being questioned about their motives when giving the rest of the herd a 'heads up'. But, as has been said before "DON'T LOOK, JUST BUY!" is not a 'heads up' that most folks would tell a group of fellow enthusiasts - at least, without expecting that someone just might ask if the emperor was wearing any clothes. If you had simply said something realistic like "this could be a great deal, somebody should go *look* at it RIGHT NOW" I don't think anyone would have been anything but appreciative. Really.

I thought we finished flogging this dead horse long ago. Can we please get this thing processed and sent to France? There's somebody in Paris waiting for a horse-steak and we have tenderized it enough for even the most finicky of palettes.

I removed the posted reply because I realized after a quick review that your implication was for Willhoit and not myself. That is why I removed it so quickly.

This is a pefect indication of there are two sides to every story;

{I thought you were talking about me, so I took it personally. I was quick to defend myself and lashed out at you in response (the fact that it was midnight here, didn't help).}

{You thought this reply was indicative of my character and were quick to save peices of it in order to prove that point.}

This is how things can get out of hand very quickly on this forum. It's ashame that this seems to be what this forum is coming to. A bunch of hot tempered, trigger happy, assumptive finger pointers!

I do apologize for my remarks. I had hoped to remove them before you saw them.

I just wonder if this is how we would all act towards each other at the same 928 event?

Greg,

I would sell all your cars sight unseen just for the simple fact you couldnt let my mispelling of Schmuctt go by the way side..... Tells me you probably spent alont of time searching for your car(s) and have a synical approach to "things"

Yup, Mr Wilhoit. Haste makes waste huh!

{You thought this reply was indicative of my character and were quick to save peices of it in order to prove that point.}
Even not knowing you, IMHO, in essence it is. Perhaps the same way you can make judgements about me through the same process. Correct?
If words and how they are used in a letter are not a partial indications of ones thought process, character, state of mind or thinking, what is ? Words are all you really have in a written correspondence.
I didn't prove a point, perhaps you did?
Yep, i did save it and it disappeared so quick i didn't have time to go back and quote the rest. Some times of the day this list can be very dynamic.

Personally, this forum is FAR from that. Again, its ones perceptions and each his own.
Remember, when you point, there's 3 pointing back at you. You were the hasty one not me. I read your response to me in full and replied accordingly, hitting the send button with out a doubt.

I do apologize for my remarks. I had hoped to remove them before you saw them.
Like wise. As my wife always says, though, its the thought that counts.

I just wonder if this is how we would all act towards each other at the same 928 event?
Theres not a person with a 928 that i would not by a beer for or go out of the way to lend assistance with a problem. That still stands.
Which events do you go to?

Hey, look at that water going under the bridge.
Big group hug everyone.

My last post on the topic.

the thought or remark by Tony on Wilhoit possibly rolling back odometers is nuts. he has been in business for years and the state of Missouri looks into every dealer's sales...I know becasue I've been in the business for years as well. Mike provides Carfax reports that can quickly let you know of odometer problems, he allows you to speak with PO's . If he has been rolling odometers back he very good at it and he has the equipment to roll a digital odometer back if thats the case, and if its worth the extra money he might make off making a high mile car a low one at the risk of losing his license and the chance to make more money off more cars in the future, then he's not the man I know.
Tony there are many more LOW MILE 928's out there we both don't know about...Mike knows how to find them through his contacts...he buys cheap and sells high...his 928's are high quality. I believe there are many owners out there who don't get on this board and don't show their cars, these people own the 928 for as long as they want and simply sell it with no fanfare...once it hits the market on Mikes lot or Ebay or whatever, we all find out about it, but we are a step behind guys like Low Miler and Wilhoit.

I have been gone from this forum for almost 10 months now. And now that finally my personal life and job are allowing me to check back in again, I'm finding out that bandwidth is still being wasted on speculation, insults to good people, and arguments that get nowhere. I haven't updated my signature yet, but thanks to threads like this, I'm snatching one under-priced 928 after another from ebay or autotrader. The count is up to 6 and may be 7 if you include this one. so please do keep it up

Willhoit demands prices nobody has the Kuhunas to ask for and why anybody would fault a businessman for offering the best anyone has and does so in a way that keeps the GTS at prices as the last thing r...that would be around 97k now. Willhoit is at the top of the food cahain and to suggest the cars are not worth that much is like saying Porsche scammed everyone....... I have done business with him and he did nothing short of come through as did I in my respect for what he offers his clientel. People pay his price because he has done the work they do not have time for....Maybe we should give them away and then the debates will subside.... I plan on selling them above the 12k standard I see now and if everyone here would set a standard then people would be forced to pay a FAIR price and not one I have watched decline 15% in price since last summer.....

I cannot wait to see the car at 5k with 100k miles in a few years......ithat will make the 924 fun again.....okay i went too far.
