Thanks, Nicole. What I needed was a doctor. I should have had this thing stitched. It's pretty ugly, keeps opening up when I flex my arm, but it is getting progressively better. Looks like I'll be left with an ugly scar.

Anyway, the car is ready to come down off the stands tonight after a TB job, oil change, and replacement of damaged alternator air intake tube.

Bill, it may be a bit late for this... but if you close it up with a butterfly closure then smear some Desetin on it real thick, it will close up and heal much faster. In fact, don't do this if there is any sign of infection, because if there is, it will close up so fast that your body won't have time to flush the wound properly. I had a wound in my hand that was all the way through the skin... I could pull it back and see the muscles and tendons... It really needed about 20 stitches, but I used this method and it closed up in a couple of days to where I didn't need the butterfly closures. Also, it will reduce the scarring.

Dave:

Thanks for the advice. It definitely has had adequate drainage as it stayed open for a good week. It seemed to finally settle down and seal up yesterday, but I feel twinges if I try to do too much. Not tender or swollen, so I think I'm OK. Too late for Desetin, but I'll keep that in mind for the next mishap.

Ol' family remedy. I won't bore you with all the stories... It's messy but it works.

So have you turned the key yet?
