How about using a CIS fuel accumulator plumbed near the fuel rails?

Since I already think I have a rocket, and I really do not want to worry about reliablity, I will be VERY interested to hear about the "simple" low presssure kit. I just moved from MN to a high altitude location in CO. The bump from a low pressure SC is just what my car needs. Please post as soon as you have some news on it.

Good Feedback Tim. I would strongly encourage you to take a look at running a signal intercept for both the ignition and the fuel...I do this with the L-Jetronic (fuel only)....it allows me to run much more pressure (even at idle) as well as a larger injector, nearly 2X the stock size. The idle and low speed response is done by shaving signal out. I'm not a fan of just doing the rising rate regulator. It is cheap, but to tune it is is difficult. It would be even worse with a turbo car because you can have all your boost at 2500 RPM in higher gears...I don't need more fuel pressure there, just a map adjustment that can handle it.

Your mention of the rich mixture with the Rising Rate regualtor is typical. Actually, you might even be better off with 2 or 4 extra injectors placed strategically in the airstream before the throttle body and fire these under boost only.

You are spot on accurate on the detonation on these motors, be it 4.5 or 5.0 liter examples. You can't push these motors into detonation for any length of time....the end result will be wasted pistons. You should feel blessed your gaskets let go first. Best is to go custom 2618 forged, which is what it sounds like you are doing, or going with an off the shelf Mahle.

I am pulling the 4.5 in the Goldmember so I can replace these old head gaskets. Once she is gone and documented I will be looking for an S4 to do the twin turbo setup on. I think a lot of the design I have in the 4.5 kit can be carried over to the S4...well, maybe. If I have the same success as my 4.5s, it will be a hell of a car.

Wondering when we will see the Vortech strapped to the Pink Trike in the picture?

Murph ..... it certainly is refreshing to have such a candid open report of what has worked , what has failed , what you plan to be doing and what you have done . No smoke , no mirrors , pretence or "magic" . Why do all the "supercharger" guys seem to be so willing to share ? Must be the uncontrollable smile and enthusiasm from all that BWAAAAA .

No one else to talk to. The wife stopped pretending to care a long time ago. Now that she has her own 928 I'll have to admit her enthusiasm has picked up on a number of fronts.

Seven sets? Can I buy one of those cylinder support sets? Please? I'm coating the 89 pistons without probably dishing them out at all - the 9.7 or 9.5 compression that many have found is good enough for me. I was going to coat the tops with the thermal barrier, and the sides with the low friction stuff from www.swain.com

I am estimating 90-110 rwhp increase. The results will be dyno verified with before and after dyno charts.

We might do the baseline dyno this weekend and the supercharged dyno results next week or weekend.

I used Swain to coat my pistons. I only did the tops.

All the cylinder sleeves are allocated to engines right now. See if you can find someone to machine the block and then we can talk about getting some made for you. Your other choice would be to send the block to us to have it machined and the sleeves fitted. We will be setting up to machine 3 blocks very soon so if you have a block ready it might be a good time to send it out. If interested I can try to get an estimated cost for the machining and the sleeves.

Maybe I should post the photoshoot of Lorelei and my Shark..........

Tim, before it gets too cold I have an idea:

Rachel, Lorelei, 3 928's and my camera equipment.

Who would like to order a calendar?

On the 16V kit:
My car is 100% stock 1981 US car (except the air pump and charcoal canister removal) with 98,000 miles.

I really hope that it works as I think it will. The other big benefit is going to be for those that live in tightly restricted emissions states. This setup will not affect the emissions of the car.

-Tim, If you run for President I'll probably vote for you. And does your wife have any "available" sisters-?

Anyway, that picture of the cylinder supports is fascinating, and I wonder why you've done that. I've heard of "O-ringing" blocks in order to prevent head gaskets from getting blown, but why did you put the sleeves around the bores? Do you suspect distortion?

The question that I've asked various "boostards" for the past year: What times have you posted at the strip? I need something to tell the boys back at the "office"-

Keep up the good work-

N!
