Gav928 -

I Understand and I appreciate your efforts to keep it under wraps.

I will say this........ I do like the rear end better than any other body kits I've seen.

Good Luck!

If you are going to keep the front headlights, you should at least intall the ones with clear turn signals. It should look allot better once you remove that yellow section. They are very cheap, on Ebay.

Thank you all for your comments, so many that I cannot answer each one individually.

I see many repeated issues and I have taken note and do honestly appreciate every comment, Yes it has been a lot of work and still lots to do till completion.

I have realized that if I choose any single comment, and adjust the car to suit that individual, I know that there would be other unhappy people with the changes. I agree the round light is the hallmark of the 928, ans as I have said I am working the next car to that exact spec.

I thank you for your support / comments regarding this and I have also realized that there is not a more honest and knowledgeable bunch of nice people to share my ideas with, remembring that in South Africa we are also cut off to lots of the items you can easily obtain.

There is no company that locally supercharges or turbocharges the 928 at all, we have no dealers that sell rims for the 928, we have one porsche breaker with limited spares.

We will be the only 928 "Specialist" sorry to use that expression Jim - but we are making a start and my dream is to get people to love the 928 again - whatever it takes. I am sure you guys will help me along the way as your knowledge far outshines mine, but I have a vision and I have determination.

I thank you for taking the time - and for accepting me as a new member to this forum.

It is now evening and I will respond to further mails tomorrow, have a great day and thanks again.

I too need to give my opinion. I understand the need to use an existing light package, but the headlights just make it to generic. The front bumpers seem too wide and the gradiation from the front to the back is to hourglass. I have looked at my car for sometime thinking how would I do this same thing. The problem lies in when you widen the front and rear fenders you end up with this exaggerrated hour glass figure because not much can really be done to widen the doors. I love the rear fender treatment. It looks as though you rounded the wheel well opening doing away with the flat top line. This should allow for wider tires. Overall you have done a great job. You are doing what I would love to be doing. Anxious to see the wing treatment. I feel it is a very important aspect of the car. I dont agree with the use of popup headlights. They are an old design and really show the age of the car.

I think this a great step in the right direction. I also prefer the 997 light configuration. Using the 928 lights with the style fenders you have made will make it almost an oversized 968 in the front. As it is, i find the car very attractive. It is not outrageous like a strossek or gemballa. I think it reflects a design that modern porsche designers would produce for a current porsche gt car. As far as your interior kit goes, are you making leather a pillar and pod covers? I think i remember an earlier post where you said that the leather smiths in your region could produce a nice pod cover. I think that would be a definate upgrade that will make many sales. Keep up the great work. You already have a potential customer over here depending on the cost Oh, one last thing, i wanted to congratulate you on the boddy lines. I like how the seems are very neat. If you look at competitors kits, like the clockwork, i think that seems, especialy in the bumper/nose area, are very large and unsightly. Yours look factory perfect.

Agree with Shane, Weissach, Gretch. Lose the ugly Boxster lights. The Factory did!!! Otherwise it looks very good :-) I agree too, the wheels are too small and girly. Need big beefs on there. Is it just me, or would that tail look wonderful with the stock old 928 front? Seems the front has become too fat and Cayenne-ish ..... Wonder what that frontal area does to drag.

I think the styling is crippled with that front end.
The 928 headlights are a total identifier to that car. There must be some way of putting the old and the new together?
The hind quarters are looking nice. As it looks in the picture, a retractable wing would be very cool. Think about that before adding a biplane to the rear of the car.
The front has to squeeze in more and those headlights make it look too busy up there. The 928 boasts very clean sharp lines and those lights make too many angular transitions.

IMHO

Awesome work though ------- keep it up!

WOW! Impressive work...

I have mixed opinions.

On one hand, you have made the 928 look like a new Porsche.
If you pulled up in a '79 928, with that body kit, people would guess it was a new model.
It's all blended in nicely.

I especially like the smoothness of the flares, especially in the rear.
VERY nice. I dislike the hard or bumpy lines some rear flares have.
Upgrading the rear lights will be a huge upgrade for the earlier cars.

BUT...

I have to agree somewhat about the front view.
I like my 928 because it is different from all the boxters, 993, 996, etc.
So I do not want to look just like one of them.
But the headlights and taillights of the 928 ARE dated.
So I like the idea of new-looking headlight and taillight design.
I am just not convinced that these headlights are the way to go.
Yes, the car looks like a new Porsche now.

But I am very unhappy to lose the front rake.
I love the flatness of the 928's hood lines.
Ideally, I prefer flip lights, projectors, or stock lights...

But the rest of the design is looking great.

It just depends if you want to sell it as an upgrade to make the 928 look like a new Porsche,
or make it look like something unique. I prefer something unique, to something that looks "stock".
But that is just my preference...

I think overall it is a nice package. But like the few other the actual headlight design is very common to other Porsche's. The alter wider body is sweet but the lights should not have changed in my opinion. Thumbs up to the project though. I can't wait to see all arround. A nice virtual view would be great.

Gav,

I am confused - you post pics and comments here that you want feedback from 928 owners on the look of your kit, but when people ask for greater detail in order to give you that feedback you are unwilling to do so? Are you looking to generate interest or honestly solicit feedback with which to develop your product? I can't do the work you do - but if I could, I think I would want to give as much detail as possible to the enthusiasts here to base my product on - after all, there is no better or larger 928 enthusiast board than here, and this would be where many of your customers come from. I would think I would want to know any negative feedback that would keep people from buying my product BEFORE i develop it and it doesn't sell!

That being said, the rear end of your kit looks to be very clean - I think that would be a nice update to the rear end of the 928. The front looks very heavy and bulbous however. I appreciate the desire to use Porsche parts, but the front fender looks meaty like a truck, not sinuous like a sports car. It looks like the fender is nearly horizontal from the A pillar to the headlight - does not slope forward like a sports car should. If you look at your car vs. a Boxster you can see that the Boxster fender has a much cleaner slope forward. Plus, since the Boxster is smaller, there is much less vertical distance to work with from the top of the wheel well to the fender - its just a cleaner look.

I appreciate what you are building, but I think you need to work on the front end design a bit more before you go to production...just my $.02

Not too bad. I'm ok with the lights, but wipe that smile off it's face! Looks too friendly - like an obese Miata. Make the front air vents straight across with no curves. Would make the car look more like it means business. Even a slight frown would be better than the friendly guppy face.

Head lights need to stay round...like the 997 or 993. I would prefer that they are not pop-ups due to weight, complexity, bad areodynamics when up and just plain old school. The tail lights need to be smoked/clear.....NO YELLOW....but I think they are from the pics its hard to tell. Mirrors would look great if they could be mounted to the window corner and not the side of the door.....again 997 or similar. The rear wing will make or break the car. I like it allot though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
