Anyway,
New parts are in, clutch bled - no change.
I did notice something as I playing with the clutch in the garage. If I gingerly push in the clutch pedal, is when the problem happens. Might release, might not. If I forcefully push the pedal to the floor, it releases each and every time - so......back to the drawing board.

Have you looked at the connection of the clutch pedal to the body of the car. Remove the push rod and feel if maybe there is some binding up top where the hinge point of the clutch is. I've never heard of a clutch pedal going bad..but perhaps yours is binding in certain orientations?...
Just some more random thoughts..
Good Luck

I've heard of people having problems bleeding the clutch system before. Is there any way that a vacuum pump might be able to help get any trapped air out of the system and make the procedure potentially a little less frustrating?

This just insane Hacker. What the hell is going on with tha system? I think the clutch is afraid, very afriad of having the engine at full bore with the SC on thier. Its not showing up for work because of it.

Do you not always shift with the pedal all t he way down?

And you bled the slave as desribed, as well as the master with taking out the rod, and letting some drip out?

That sounds like what mine did before it went to dragging slightly all the time (much worse for the first shift after startup). I just tested mine on jackstands and it works fine now although my pedal feels extremely light compared to how it used to feel. The opposite of my brake pedal which now seems to work.

So gently applying the clutch results in lack of hydraulic pressure (we think)
Hitting the pedal hard = pressure from the system.
Are you absolutely sure the mechanicals are good?

Nevermind, nothing has changed. Once driven a few miles, the clutch does not release at all, or very little
The above post where I was able to get the clutch to release by forcing down the pedal faster was in the garage with everything cool. After driving, it's 100% the same as it was before I replace the master / slave and lines.

I have a new shaft & pilot bearing in the garage with the proper grease. Once my exhaust cools down a bit I'm going to pull my first 928 clutch.
Oh well, at least now I have swapped head gaskets on a 16V with the engine still in the car & master cylinder. Do I get some kind of 928 gold star or something?
