Question Best place to have wheels refinished????

Any body had wheels refinished ?

Best place and best work for the best price ?

Every time I put the car in the local wash & Shines the wheels are my major problem so I guess it is time to get new wheels and or have mine finished properly. Have the 7" front and 8" rear on my 83'.

Take a look at www.fixrim.com/ They are capable of refinishing rims and are very reasonable IMHO.

Cost is ~$120/wheel.

If by re-finished you mean re-anodized then your options are somewhat more limited and the cost will be much higher. Painting is a cost effective option. I just had a set of OEM 993 GTS wheels stripped and painted. The rears were a bit out and had to be trued. Cost for all that $450. Don't forget to figure in shipping.

I have a couple of sets of Club Sports I would like to get repaired and re-anodized.

You can have anyone that paints do your wheels. Strip or bead blast them clean. Lightly sand. Prime with etching primer. Paint with good quality base coat/clear coat. Your problems will be over.

If it's chrome you want, try California Chrome Wheel. I'm very happy with the way my wheels turned out.

Thanks for the quick suggestions. I am looking to have the Polished look. Also would like to have the Design 90's if I can find a set.

Ron, Thanks Didn't you just come up to Denver and pick-up the 87' from Nader ?

I would prefer Polished rather than Chrome but could be interested if the price is right.
send me an E-mail.

I am not sure of the RULES in wash and shine BUT painted S wheels would not be original nor is chrome original for any alloy Porsche wheels and only a few early phone dials were ever factory polished . Just as stripping the paint off the hood and polishing the aluminum hood to a bright shine might look interesting ...it would not be original .

Yes Richard, that was me. I put the D-90's I had on my 83 on the 87. Now I want to upgrade to 17" wheels. Now the S4 is having trans problems. Just my luck after having the car fully detailed and looking good.
