Default LH nervousness

I have a 88 S4 LH drive and attempting to tkae out the LH module for 1st time for service. I have it unleashed as I felt it unlocked and pivoting down so it can unleash and Not pulling on in straight out. I dont want to pull to much and I dont now if I should avoid wiggle it a little and pulling on the bottom pivot . Any advice because either im to gentle or its stubborn.

Thanks

Assuming you are talking about disconnecting the LH computer plug first thing I do is disconnect the battery irrespective of whether it is strictly necessary or not as the case may be. To remove the plug you have to lift the locking tab and that lifts the connector pins away from the tabs they sit in. The other end of the connector has a sort of hook that latches over a cross arm and that has to be rotated aabout 30 degrees [?] to get it to disengage completely . In my experience it does not put up too much resistance to removal but there is some.

I'm hopping you are removing BOTH ECU's as an assembly, and not trying to remove only one unit from the mounting frame while in the the car.

Once the cables are carefully unplugged and not stressing the cables, remove the two hex head bolt (top and bottom) towards the front holding the cage to the body and pull it toward the rear of the car.
The back of the cage has a pin that fits into a rubber grommet (so it just pulls out.
Once out on the bench the ECU's can be unbolted from the cage.

Note: due to the stiffness of the cables (with age) it is sometimes necessary to remove the shelf above it first.
