Having a drink at the Spring Fling host hotel bar with 4-5 928'rs a few years back. Gent at the bar and not with the group started talking cars. Said he has an old Catalina convertible he was restoring, a few others, then menitoned he had a 928. Said I never heard of it...he goes on saying it's a front engine V8 built by Porsche back in the day, blah, blah. The other 928'rs caught on and said they never heard of this 928 either. Roger walks up to the bar and we ask...ever heard of a 928 ?...Roger says "a what". Finally let the gent know we were at this hotel for a 928 get together called The Spring Fling....he thought we were playin him. Walked him out to the host hotel parking lot to show him the 928's. Told him the guy with the fun english accent is a 928 parts supplier and has approx 20+ 928's guy almost flipped out T

I'm not sure I can remember all the funny stories. Keep'em going and maybe by random association I'll remember one.

There was my first trip to SITM attempting to follow Doc Mohr and Jay Kempf on the interstate to the Blue Ridge. Luckily, when they got stopped and damn-near arrested I was so far behind that when the officer asked me if I was with them, my response of "unfortunately" was said with just the right tone to get me a free pass...

Oh... a couple of SITMs later, I pulled into the convenience store on the corner (you know which one I mean) to buy party favors. It was dark. I just turned-off the engine so the lights stayed up. The clerk said: "Oh, now I see how those lights work. All these Porshs running around with the lights pointed to the sky... I could never figure out how that was gonna work..."

One afternoon on the way back home I came up on an old Caprice, the ones that used to be cop cars, at about 130 or so and well, this was was still a cop car. He hit his lights and cruised up to my bumper as I was pulling over for him. Just happened to be an exit there and as I came to a stop he went on by and hooked a right. Guess he needed to get home too.

One day on the way up to Wichita, I was not hauling *** but going around 90 and came up on a Tahoe, blacked out windows so slowed down behind him, he hit the lights quickly but turned them off. That was a slow 20 mile cruise until he left the highway.

I dislike Oklahoma but the cops seem cool, the drivers.........left lane hogs.
There's a new law in OK and the left lanes are to remain open. Lots of signs. I went through 2x in last 2 months (in a Prius) but still did the whole trip in 7 hours. (door to door). I need to get a new radar - my V1 is overwhelmed with K band false alarms.

You don't need a new one, just update your v1 with the new Junk Filter. Gets rid of 80% of the false alarms. On my Escort detectors, I've just turned off everything but Ka Band. Almost all the falses are on X and K and with laser, it's too late anyway. Now when it goes off, I pay attention again.

^This. I just updated mine and it's a lot, lot, LOT better. Next to no false Ka Band alarms, where before the update, the Ka alarm never shut off.

I got mine new in 13, and the update was just under $100 with shipping.
You enter your serial number on the Valentine site and it tells you what the cost will be. Also creates the paperwork that gets sent in with the unit.

I leave my X & K band active, we have quite a few local cops that still have K band, and the county still runs a handful of X band.

Stopped at traffic lights in the 928 in the city. A couple of twenty something girls walk the crossing, stop in front of the 928 and flash their *****. I flashed the headlights up and down. They laughed.

Gawd I love Australia. I spent some time living in Kings Cross Sydney back in 92-93. Went to Bondi most days and most girls went topless. Rarity here.

I think Valentine will only give me a $200 credit for my version. I bought in 2000 upgraded in 2004 but mine is kind of obsolete now that I'd like to speed again.
Considering something else. But i'll check again

The older ones can't be updated and get replaced. They give you a credit (or a discount), but it's not all that cheap to get the upgrade.

Valentine 1 will only give me a $111 credit at this point so trade in will be $289. I am just wondering if something else will give better protection even if it costs more. In a way I am a little aggravated with Valentine at this time but not to the point I want to make a bad decision.

The Uniden R3 and Escort Max 360 with the GPS seem interesting. Too bad no independent (trusted) entities are doing testing and reviews any more.

Several years ago I had the clinic over for a party.
Those drinking adult beverages gravitated outside and eventually into the garage to see what was out there.

It took about three minutes for my crew of veterinary technicians to start the traditional female “posing” with the 928.
Initially, tongue in cheek — then in increasingly more provocative and less clad pics, to out do each other.

I was torn between letting it play out to the HR cringeworthy finalie, but decided to shut it down quickly before my wife came outside

PS: I also didn’t want the paint scratched.
