jayc67,
Until Wally P and the Bosch Hammer (diagnostic tool) informed me that my Shark's flappy valve was not functioning properly up at SITM 2004 ---- it turned out to be a vacuum leak ---- AND our gang's kindly physician, Ed M, located the leak and temporarily FIXED it in the motel parking lot, I didn't know what I was missing when the kickdown switch was engaged! Now, when I nail the gas pedal (think "tonic seizure" in the right leg) whoaaaaaaaa baby....hang on tight! This is a big part of what the 928 driving experience is ALL about...

Thanks again Wally P and Ed M....you guys are awesome!

ps.
Warning never engage the kickdown on a wet road...

Thanks for the help also, I tightened my kickdown cable some more and am now getting good kickdown at highway speeds. I find my gas pedal might need to be adjusted though, as I feel like I have to put some sideways pressure on it to hit the kickdown switch properly. I may do the switch mod also to allow kickdown to happen earlier, as it takes a second at WOT for it to decide to kickdown. Once it does though, accelleration is brisk.

No question that people need to determine what their priorities are with their own cars. I personally enjoy working on mine, and don't mind having to do extra maintenance for the way I drive (although I can honestly say that I haven't found that I'm doing any more maintenance on my car than the cream puff cars ). I bought my particular car because it was a "driver". Higher mileage than most (around 100K when I bought it, and I just turned 150K on the way back from OCIC), and the paint has some road rash. I wouldn't drive a concours winner the way I drive my car, but then again, I wouldn't own a concours winner as my only shark either.

As long as their being driven and maintained, I think the 928's mission is being accomplished.
