Wooden shift ****
I have a manual 1993 928GTS with an original wooden shift ****. The shifting pattern is missing though. Does anyone know what it should look like and where to find the original pattern?

Here's a picture from the pelicanparts forum. It is supposedly an oem wood **** in a 1991 GT.
You could also source another dogleg shiftknob and use the indexplate form that one. I'm guessing it will be next to impossible to find another oem wood ****...

Yes, they could be the gold insert, silver, body color, or a Porsche crest embossed in leather. Couple of different Exclusive options.
I'm interested in how your shift **** attaches to the shift lever- do you have a photo of the other end? Looks like there's a setscrew of some sort? I have a refinished rootwood **** but it's missing the insert that mates it to the shift lever.

FWIW the stock plastic shift pattern button is the same OD as the ID of the rootwood shifter hole, you'd have to cut the tangs off the plastic insert to get it to sit flush but that's the cheap option for now.

Here is my insert in leather from the Exclusive Dept. It was embossed but I eventually redid it with a laser etched piece of leather as the original finally gave up. Pics aren't all that great and the car is gone now.

IMHO, I would not go for a plain black plastic insert in a wood gear ****. I don't think they look right, the wood deserves some insert with depth or a more shiny piece. Here's some different ones from the net as examples..;

Rob, is the plastic shift pattern insert available as a separate part number?
